3 plugs in one housing
iam tying to under stand how 3 plugs in a housing works and how it can help. also how or were can someone get this mod done. if done can a power FC run this kind of set up?
|
..and can you post a pic of this "3 plugs in one housing" housing?.
If you mean spark plugs,I am sure you know that it is only 2 per housing.(leading and trailing). |
Defined autoworks has done it to some of their 3-rotors. It's a pretty rare process and isn't really a DIY job.
Also, the Mazda factory race team who designed the 787B's engine. A third plug helps ignite the small pocket of gas in the trailing corner of the combustion chamber. It was done to improve fuel economy a tiny bit on the endurance race cars. Mazda had the technology to do it on the Renesis engine and chose not to. That should tell you what you need to know about the cost/benefit analysis. You'd never make your money back on the fuel savings compared to paying to have the service done. |
^ this ...
... and for your Power FC question, i would imagine it could run it (given the appropriate wiring changes) because as i understand it, the Trailing (T) and Far Trailing (FT) plugs fire simultaneously. however, your best bet would be to contact Defined since they are the only people that i am aware of that currently use that 3-plug system. |
... on second thought, i might be mistaken. :(

For the OP...I'd think that a properly tuned and ported engine, with good ignition and 2 plugs per rotor in appropriate heat ranges is, generally speaking, plenty. ;)
