2nd Gen Ignition swap questions
Let me start by saying I have been online looking for info about this subject and still kind of confusing to me. Thats why Im opening this thread.
I heard you can use a 2nd gen ignition for an 85GSL-SE. -The first thing there is 4 different kind of 2gen there is the S4 natural aspirated and the S4 turbocharged, the same with the S5. So which one? - The second thing, What is it that you swap, the whole thing including coils or just get the 2nd gen ignition and use it in the car like it was a 1st gen one? - What other parts do I have to replace if i want to swap the ignition? **For some of you this might sound a simple question it might sound a dumb question. Please remember that some of us are just starting with this. I will appreciate if i get only serious answers. Thanks for the help. |

( there is some european 1986 NA FC's with a dizzy, no CAS ) there is several methods, though the easiest and most successful method is to make a form of DLI ( direct leading ignition ) from a leading FC twin coil - using the J109 leading igniter and the FC coil base resister ( bypass the igniter there ) and the leads directly onto the sparkplugs |
go to the 1st gen technical section, and look at the FAQ section at the top of the page. In there you will find the instructions on this mod.
