20b burning spark plugs out

i have a 20b in my Fc lately i can't seem to get more than 250 miles on it with out having to get new plugs. anyone had a similar problem and if so any plugs that might last longer ?

Sounds like your tune is off

What do they look like when they are "bad"

kreepinmongoose 04-08-15 03:29 PM

they are black and look a bit grey on the tip of the prongs. if i take the plug out and try to crank it with it out the spark is barely visible. but when new they are strong so i know its not the coils or the ecu...

welcome to the board. :)

it might help a little more if you list a few details of the setup (ignition, plugs, EMS, etc.).

streetported , t88 turbo , M Tech lt16s ecu, msd blaster ignition coils. im not sure what size injectors I'm running since i bought the intake with the fuel rail attached to it. its weird it started doing this about 2 months ago i have a total of about 3000 miles on the fresh rebuild. the first 2k i had no problem at all.

are you experiencing anything with the car after those 250 miles? i mean like power loss, misfiring, etc. - i.e. noteworthy symptoms. if you're basing this simply on the fact that the plugs don't "light up" after 250 miles the way they do when brand new, then it may just be rich. do you have any AFRs or EGTs to provide?

is this really wise? how are you tuning it?

i meant the injectors were al ready being used on a 20b and came with the intake i bought. i took the car to titan motorsports to get tuned and it still has the same tune from before and it was running fine.

:) i assumed that that was what you meant, but my concern was how were you tuning the car without knowing what injectors you had. i would imagine somewhere on your fuel map you had to enter an output value and impedance and all that.

however, with the fact that you already had it tuned once, i will also assume that they were able to figure out what you have and proceed accordingly. perhaps Kilo can do the same.

yes. get some plugs and go have it tuned. also, you never mentioned what plugs you run. good luck with it.
