I've searched on here and with google, I've checked the archives bolt page, and I still can't find it.

1. Can anyone tell me what thread pitch the bolts are for bellhousing into rear iron? I looked through the fc archived post and either missed it or its not there.

2. Has anyone removed a steering lock from an 87 gxl? The kid lost the key, we got the front end loaded with a skid steer, but I don't have a skid steer and need to get my uncles trailer back to him.

Thanks for any help.

About 15 years ago I had the same problem I went to a Mazda dealer with the title and using the Vin number they were able to cut me a new key(after 15 years I'm not sure if this is still an option), another option is to disconnect the power steering lines from the pump and take the column apart at the knuckle in the engine compartment jack the car up and you can freely turn the tires

some of the bolts are 12? x 1.25 fine thread.(maybe 10..sorry not exactly awake yet)

If you take your key mechanism off the column(you have to chisel the security "rivets" like undoing a stuck bolt..they unscrew really) then you can pop the key assembly off and that allows you to then have steering.

I pulled the ignition to take to a locksmith. Mazda can't make a key for it without a key to duplicate.

I think they're m10. I had course thread m10 but of course those only go about 1/16 turn. I've read they're fine and super fune. But I'm not sure which to order.

You can get the bolts either by posting a WTB on Forum or by going to MAZDATRIX for Mazda RX7, RX8, Rotary Engine Parts and Accessories.

As far as the switch,well..you can either buy that used too..and hopefully get the whole set for all locks with key..or if you are not picky then just buy an ignition switch(used again,of course) and use one key to start the car and keep the old set for the locks on the car.
I've bought sets for 60-80 bucks..complete.

OH,a competent locksmith can make keys for you. They can use the rear hatch tumbler as a guide and match it to your ignition.
