1999-2002 rs&rz

Hello, first ever forum anything for me.

Anyway few questions about the years J-Spec "1999-2002" RS & RZ

1. Did they do anything special to the actual engine it'self like rotors, housings? ya know the
bulk....or was it just upgrades to intake, ecu, turbo's

2. Even tho those are right hand drive can you convert to either side or is it set in stone?

3. Can you take an 93-98 and just keep upgrading into an RS/RZ status? using the 99-02
parts?

4. Can those 99-02's direct-swap into the 93-98's. I know intake,cpu/ecu/wiring harness takes in effect but nothing major to hold that swap back right?

Off subject have you seen the 4 rotor awd!! i need that guy to build me a new frame like that! wonder how it handles!!

Welcome to the forum :)

1. The core engine itself is basically the same as all other 13B-REW. There were minor changes like oil metering port sizes, in addition to intake ecu & turbos.

2. A RHD to LHD conversion could be done in theory, but it would be far harder than just buying the chassis you want in the first place. I don't know if anyone has done a conversion.

3. Yes lots of people throw later model parts at early cars. The body stuff is relatively simple to change.

4. If you had a front cut from a late model car with the correct ECU and wiring then it would probably "just work". Again there are some minor details that differ. I'd certainly just rebuild an earlier motor and bolt on a few updated parts, rather than fit an unknown condition used motor.

Yeah blocks are the same, also pretty sure rz turbo compressor wheels are different to rs....
