Hey guys new to the forum picked up the car 4months ago. I have a couple things to ask for some opinions and help on please.

1.cars cluster used to display mileage when I bought then went to start the car one day and it stopped displaying mileage!! The rpms,mph,oil dash light everything else works except for the mileage display..

2. If I have the car running for about 1-1 1/2 then I go into reverse idle drops really low and stalls out (only happens every so often and only when I reverse)

The car runs and drives excellent it's got the power and turbos spooling right transmission is a little notchy at times shifting but I can deal with that it's a 93..

3. The last and final thing is the front bumper lights on the side of the bumper, are the supposed to light up or something bc I bought clear lenses for them and they came with yellow bulbs but if I hit the signals or hazards nothing, the ones for the back light up when I turn one click!! Please someone help I love the car and plan on keeping it so I Definitely wanna get more in tune and more knowledgable about it!! Thanks

1. The odometer diaplay has backlight bulbs. I've seen writeups on changing out the bulbs in the dash lights. The odometer are probably different but I know the problem has been discussed before on here so do a search.

2. When you shift into a gear from P some load is placed on the engine through the torque converter so the RPM will drop and if car is not warmed up all the way a minor running problem with the engine could show up as a the engine cutting out. However, I would think it would do it when shifting into drive also.

3. The are supposed to light up with the first position on the stalk-parking lights.

Thanks for your reply the lights are good needed to change the bulbs and as far as the odometer the dash lights up at night so I don't know what that can be, I really appreciate the response thought thanks again ill do the search About the bulbs

But does the odometer light up at night also or is it dark?

If it does not light then it prob does need bulb(s). There should be separate bulbs for it and multiple other bulbs that light up other parts of the dash.

You can shine a light on the odometer and see if you can see any numbers, if so that should be a backlight problem. It could be something else wrong with the OD but the backlight going out is common.

Do took the dash out and the back lights are all working, the odometer lights up but it's blank?? Anything else I should tackle??

If you search "odometer" under an advanced search of thread titles you will find some good info. Some people have fixed issues like this by replacing leaking capacitors or other damaged components.

Thanks for your help idk I just put everything back I mean I don't know how to solder and all that stuff, another quick ? For u I know it's a 93 and they burn oil but I just changed my oil and put 15w-30 or 40 but it smoked a little blue this morning it was cold out is that ok??

Last time I recalled, the fuse back under the kick panel has a GREEN connector that tends to pop out sometimes. Check it,

A little smoke on start can indicate some wear probably in the center rotor oil seals but is normal. I have heard some people here run 20w-50 it might help this some. I think I would run at least a 40 on the hot spec (2nd number) on the engine oil. It will give you some more viscosity when the oil is hot.

I just thought to look at your location. Since you're in a cold climate run whatever you think especially on the first number the "w" winter rating on the oil in the cooler months.

well this is getting silly: 2 posts to try to correct myself. I shouldn't have commented about oils because I deal with oil weights so seldom I don't really remember this stuff correctly.

"w" isn't a winter rating but I think of it as more relevant in winter because it is the base weight of the oil. The other number has to do with the viscosity at a specified hot temperature and how it acts based on the expansion of the polymers blended into it.

Anyway, you could do a little research here and see what is recommended for those in similar climates in different times of the year.

I thought the second number indicated thickness of the oil?

First number is viscosity when its cold, second is viscosity when hot

Oh OK. Lol I've been thinking if it wrong. I knew first number had to do with being cold. Thx this helps a lot. Thicker oil is better for running a car hard right?

Haha well thanks for the input on oil guys I'm fine with it smoking a little prly gonna throw some marvel mystery in it for now and @crimsonpride I looked at the kick panel everything's plugged in and there's power to all fuses
