1993 RB7 Bose radio

The Bose stereo in my 1993 RX7 has died. I am looking for a replacement, but Mazda says there is no stock replacement. Has anyone replaced the head with an after market unit that fits and works well?

On the for sale section here check to see if anyone is selling and/or make a wanted ad asking for one

^^There is a minimum number of posts required before you can place an add in the for sale section IIRC it is 10. So hang out a bit and enjoy the forum

You can also contact Fritz. He is good source for parts

Edit- If you are looking for an aftermarket option Nakamichi CD-500 is a retro style deck and it is a decent replacement. However, I'm not sure if they are still manufacturing them...

from their website:

I guess the back lighting can be changed:

Montego gave you a plethora of Info so this post was not deleted for asking for replacement parts in 1: the wrong section..and 2: posted in HOW TO USE THIS SITE Section.
Good luck to ya.

No personal experience with the BOSE system, but as I recall the speakers were individually amp'd and just replacing the head-unit with aftermarket won't work. If you want to keep it stock (and I'm told the BOSE system sounded pretty good) I think you'll have to source good used BOSE components as Montego mentioned.

Correct & thank you for pointing that out as I completely forgot to mention about the bose...

The bose head unit is passive and that is why every speaker requires an amplifier, plus the bose speakers work on a 1 ohm system instead of the regular 75 ohm. What that means is that if you get an aftermarket replacement head unit and want to leave the bose speakers in place, you also have to purchase an adapter.
