1987 mazda rx7 problem need help.....
Hi I just got a 1987 Mazda RX7 turbo for free from a friend. It needed a new battery so I replaced it and it started right up, but after I started it and shut it off it would not restart. I smell fuel and it has to sit awhile before it will start again then same problem accures. Does any one know what is wrong. I think it might be the fuel pressure regulator , but not sure I,ve never had an rx7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it might be flooding, try reading some of these posts in this thread

yea, if u smell fuel then the fuel is erupting out somewhere along its course into the motor. Check the fuel lines. check fuel filter. check all fuel related stuff. while under the hood, it wouldnt hurt to check ignition and other basic stuff too. when your engines not turning on, check the basics: fuel, ignition, Oh and fuses too.

sounds like flooding check your fuel related stuff as said check your plugs to see if they are good or bad and if it is for sure flooding a easy fix for that is putting in fuel pump cut out switch

Thanks for the help it was flooding and I added a toggle switch it worked like a charm

Depends entirely on the condition of the car. If it's in only fair condition that would be a reasonable number. If it's in good condition, a slightly higher number would be in order. If in excellent condition, bump it up a thou or two as a starting point.
For a reference point, I sold a '90 GTU (base model) in excellent condition, good compression and no major body problems for $4,500 last year. |
I need the money and don't have enough time for it.

That car is nice, I wouldn't sell it haha. But obviously youre not me.

Check the fuels line under the top portion of the intake.
