1985_FB_Idle_problems

My idle when I start my car is weird, I'm not the most knowledgeable on cars in general but I'm trying to learn. My car is a 1985 GS, but lately when I turn it on it'll try to idle at 800, then go to 500 then die, when stopping after driving it's around 900 then 800 then it'll try going down again and it'll usually bounce from 5-100 and eventually die. I'm planning on changing a fuel filter but besides that I have no clue what it could be? Can anyone help? Anything would he greatly appreciated.

I also forgot to mention, it was like this after work one day, I treat the car nice and revved it decently high while driving (I read that was good for rotaries) and it was fixed for about a day, so I've been doing it normally, and it went back to the same problem

Have you checked for any vacuum leaks?

Mine did this and a vacuum line had come off. Did you drive the car with the choke pulled? That's what popped off a line on mine.

Welcome to the board. :)

A new filter certainly will not hurt, but as the two members above me suggested, start looking for vacuum leaks.

Thanks

The problem stopped, I think it was bad gas. I heard the place where I filled up was watery. Thanks everyone! But I am still going to check my vacuum hoses because I ran into another problem
