1983 RX7 Drum to Disc Conversion
I was looking at a conversion kit (http://mrcmfg.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=408), there is limited information on the site and I haven't gotten a response from their forum. Does anyone have experience with these guys? I just want to make sure it will fit and which rotors and calipers I should purchase to go with it. My car came stock the the 12A and rear drum brakes. Is this the easiest way to get rear discs on my car?

I will throw this out there to see if it is feasable.
Why not use the 84 rear if it is disc style?. |

Respeed is a great place to deal with. The owner is a forum member here, so you can send him a PM and he'll get right back to you (username dj55b).
I believe you have a response on the Respeed forum as well. Good luck. :) . |
Thanks, I did see his response finally on the other forum. Looks like I'll be going that route and upgrading to discs in the rear. That alone with a brake prop valve should help shorten my stopping distances dramatically. Thanks for the input.

I did not change out the proportioning valve when I swapped from drum to disc. No issues. :)

Recent swap
Hey Guys,
I just recently did a rear end gslse swap on my 83 rear drum rx7. I didn't get to changing over the brake proportion valve or the master cylinder. Is it really necessary to swap those parts over? Thanks |
two hundred and eleven posts. two hundred and eleven. yet in some higher calling no one here I'm sure will understand you choose to resurrect a 7 year old post in the "new member" section. You have been a member for close to five years, and unless you have just awoke from a coma or escaped from a band of gypsies recently... there is now no reason not to take your generation specific questions to the proper sub forum. Like Kentetsu stated,I to did not have any issues doing this conversion using the standard GSL hardware. Try a new thread in the first gen forum. you may get better results.
