1983 RX-7 with rough idle and dies when decelerating

Hello there. I've got an 83 with the symptoms in the title. I've replaced most of the vacuum lines and the shutter valve / coaster valve. After doing the coaster valve today, the car actually runs worse and has no power at all. In the test drive after installing the coaster valve the car died at every stop sign and power was very low. I'm pretty sure I connected all of the vacuum and fuel lines properly but I guess its possible I missed something.

Before replacing the coaster valve, the car idled roughly and did not run well even when warmed up. It would stutter at highway speed and around town. It also made a weird honking noise that has gone away after replacing the coaster valve.

Any ideas?

welcome to the board. :)

the simple things you can try:
- look for vacuum leaks anyway
- verify good ignition, timing, and compression in both chambers
- adjust the mixture
- change the fuel filter
- clean the carburetor thoroughly
- tuneup or at least change the plugs

the less simple things you can (and probably should regardless) try:
- rebuild the carburetor
- refurbish the entire fuel system (clean tank, new filter sock, test the pump, blow out the hard lines, etc.)

I've done a few other small jobs as well:

I've changed out the plugs and wires. I've changed the oil and filter. I've also hosed out the carb with about a can and a half of carb cleaner. I've also run a can of sea foam through it and changed the fuel filter and the air filter.

Could it be ignition coils? This car sat outside for many many years.

at this point nothing is off the table. test them.

Latest update: I checked the antiafterburn valve 1 and I wasn't getting much suction on deceleration like my Haynes manual said I should. I couldn't get the wide hose off to check antiafterburn valve 2. At this point I may just remove the rats nest and go from there.

I can get the car to run but only if I set the idle to about 1600 rpm.
