13b t2 to NA conversion

Hello, I have an FB GSL that I will be 13b swapping. I bought a FC T2 as a donor car and have stripped all the parts and accessories and pulled the engine apart. I was originally planning on rebuilding and installing as a Turbo engine, but due to my lack of experience, especially when it comes to tuning, wiring, and electronics, and trying be cost effective, I have decided I will go NA and run a carb. After the research I've done this seems to be the most straight forward and simple option, especially due to the fact that I'll be putting this engine into my FB (an originally NA carbureted car). For what its worth, I dont have crazy HP expectations. As long as this car runs and drives I'll be happy. If I can get around or close to 200HP I would be plenty happy.

Looking for advice. As of now, I am planning on using a 12A dizzy distributor, buying a 4 port intake manifold, and a weber IDA carb in order to make this engine work. Its an s5 T2. I would love to port it, especially a bridge port in order to the the lumpy idle and extra power, but I am overwhelmed with the amount of opinions and different ways to port. This is strictly a weekend car to have fun with, so I'm not too concerned with street-ability. From the research I've done, I think I might try a baby bridge on the secondary plates, and making the primary plates a street port. As for the exhaust port, I keep reading contradicting opinions about touching it in general, or making it open sooner or close later. Right now the engine is torn apart and everything is stock. So I can put together as is, or if I'm going to port it now is the time. Again, I would LOVE some opinions as far as porting or no porting. And if my current game plan is good or dumb. PS, I really want that lumpy idle! Music to my ears.

Thanks in advance!!

You'll also need to 12A, or GSL-SE, front cover and a GSL-SE oil pan.

Thanks for the reply. I already swapped the FC subframe. So i'll use the T2 front cover, oil pan, and engine mount.

I don't have personal experience with a half bridge like you speak of but from reading on here I think it should get you to 200 or a little more maybe. You might be able to get to 200whp with a street port. Also I think I would go ahead and street port the exhaust while you are in there. I would have to go back and research what the disadvantages are as it's been a while since I looked into it before I ported mine. May want to look around in the n/a section if you haven't already.
