13b t2 Engine advice
I bought a 88 t2 rx7 with no motor. it does have a trans and drivetrain.
i have been looking online for only t2 motors, but cant find any for sale. would it be better to just keep looking for a motor or should i just buy parts as i go? i would like to have the car as stock as possible but am willing to do streetport t2 if id be better. the car also has to exhaust, so i was thinking maybe racing beat or buddy club. overall trying to keep the car as a weekend driver or car i can take out on a nice day |
source any reputable engine guy on here..and PM them!..lol!
Honestly just the shipping alone would pay for the Crap that you would get IF you bought from a "jdm mad tyte engine guy" on Ebay. Then once you get the Crap you gotta tear it down, rebuild it,replace the junk that is broken and then so on..and so on.. (did you save money?..NO..) As far as exhaust?..depends on what you want. heavy..go Racing Beat..2 cans?..Racing Beat..quiet?..Racing beat,...DEPENDABLE?..Racing Beat!(I say you can roll a truck over the pipes and not even hurt it!) Light?...then your on your own...Hahahaha..(Why?...I got Freakin Racing Beat!!..LOL!) |

My little bit of advice is to be patient and to deal with those that are familiar with these engines.
I'd check the Rotary Based Forums and also Facebook(but FB is a gamble too). Try to stay away from importers that "guarantee start up engines",they are a joke. That pretty much eliminates Ebay as a source BUT it may give you an idea of your budgetary outlook and what you should spend. Rebuilding or buying a rebuilt engine will obviously cost you more but If it is from someone who is experienced in the field then you got piece of mind with the purchase. |
