Use the S5 keg and all s4 accessories (front cover, omp included)and you should be fine. There will be a couple modifications to just that, search the forums and you will figure it out.

Is there a difference between convertible engine and hard top?

Hi, I cant post a thread yet so im using this one since it may have something to do with my problem. I have a buddy with an 89 convertible gen 2 and a 91 hard top gen 2. We are trying to put an engine in the hard top since he had an accident in the convertible. The kid he bought the hard top from gave him a whole bunch of gen2 13b parts and they differ completely from the gen2 convertible parts he has. Example would be the intake manifold, throttle body, vacuum setup, etc. We have worked out most of the kinks but I was curious if there were two different blocks for the years as there is this valve that bolts directly onto the block right underneath the intake manifold that wont allow for us to put the right vacuum system on. We have the right intake and everything but this valve stands in the way. I just wanted to know before we go too much farther if this valve can just be replaced with a different one or if the blocks are truly different as well. He got a block with the car that had been in the car but its identical to the 89 convertibles block. So I just wanted to make sure he can replace this valve and be good to go as long as its an s5 block although reading through these forums it doesnt seem like there would be two different manifolds or anything for the same blocks. Any info is appreciated. Sorry to threadjack but this is an emergency. Thank you.

only way they would be different is if the coupe is a turbo. other than that, they are exactly the same if they're both n/a

There are some pretty major differences between the S4 and S5 NA engine:

-intake manifold
-spark plug location
-rotor weight and compression
-metering oil pump
-emissions passages

And probably a few I am forgetting.

Turbo engines are a bit closer but still have higher compression, an electric metering oil pump, slightly revised intake and different spark plug locations.

This should be a sticky because you can't search "s4" or "s5" because the word is too small. Took me forever to find this information.
