13B REW timing marks question

help to know where TDC is with these marks red and blur circle in line ?

That doesn't look like a REW trigger wheel. And I don't think those marks will indicate TDC. I'm actually not certain how to find TDC...I'm thinking that someone told me once there's a TDC for each rotor. Page F-16 in the Factory Service Manual references those marks....

welcome aboard. check this site to download a copy of the FSM.

Since that looks like an FFE trigger wheel, have you gone to FFE'a site and downloaded the instructions? On an FD I believe the stock timing marks are no longer visible when you upgrade the wheel, so only TDC is marked, making the FSM of no benefit.

I've heard the newer FFE wheels will have more timing markings which then could be used to find the factory timing, but that doesn't appear to have such markings.

oh well, shows how much i know about that. didn't even notice that wasn't a stock trigger wheel and it's right there in that pic.

FFE does not list the 60-2 wheel I have on mine
no marks on the pulley only marks on the trigger wheel as photos
searched the internet for finding TDC on a rx7 13B no reliable info out there apart from removing pulley off and looking at the key location but this is also a guide ?can go off apex seals through spark plug holes as the plug holes are not in the middle apparently
need tdc to find CRIP for new ECU settings
Removing the pulley is a mission on my build as there is a fair bit in the way

My understanding is the 60-2 wheel was discontinued ages ago. Have you contacted them? In my experience email is easiest to reach them.

The wheel should only be able to be put on one way, just like the FC. The bolt pattern is offset so I don't believe you have any reason to start taking things apart.

Interesting read
www.rotarywiki.com/index.php?title=RE:_Port_Timing
According to this website TDC where the E shaft Key is located at 9 0'clock position this is TDC on Mazda RX7 with standard pulley when marks on the pulley line up with the pointer also
So just to be sure Mazda TDC means TDC of the intake stroke. Here we are at the beginning, ready to start all over again
but TDC of the compression stroke. The mixture is fully compressed and the E shaft key would be at 3 o'clock
on Rotor 1
And when Rotor 2 would be onTDC of the compression stroke E shaft 9 o'clock
I would of thought Mazda state DTC they mean on rotor 1 not 2
I am setting up timing on my new ecu and starting from nothing with no pulley markings only a e shaft key for a guide
what makes it tricky is there are 2 TDC's per 1 rev of the E shaft
Little information available

I think I will end up timing it of the compression TDC not the Mazda stock TDC very strange

Lotusracing 01-05-20 05:09 PM

Its seem Mazda TDC is when the E shaft key is at 9o'clock and the pulley marks line up with the pointer on casings
well according to google and searching the 13b engine has 2 TDC points per revolution TDC intake and TDC compression but mazda TDC in not on the compression but the intake stroke see this website RE: Port Timing - Rotary Engine Wiki
with the e shaft key at 9 o;clock position the engine is on compression TDC on Rotor 2 not rotor 1 which is on TDC intake
I am setting up a after market ecu with little information and no timing marks on my pulley with only the e shaft key position to go with.
Surely Mazda TDC should be on compression stroke no1 rotor ??? it looks like I will set it up from that
if you do a checking TDC on mazda rx7 on google or forums no reliable info out there

Sorted now
thanks

timing is normally set on the front rotor(rotor 1). and as with a piston engine, TDC is top compression stroke. but glad u got it straightened out.
