13b REW Semi Peripheral port
Hello,
I am looking for some know how right here. I have just bought a 13b REW and and going to boost prep the block; currently am working out the details on rebuilding and porting and am debating on how i should port the motor. I was originally planning on bridge porting the motor, but then I wanted more response and power output (planning to track this but would like to be able to occasionally drive the car to and from work and what not). I then thought to Peripheral port the motor but i hear the lifespan is terrible. So my mechanic is saying that we should semi peripheral port the block but i hear a lot about headaches. I am torn between SPP or BP so I am here to ask for your 2 cents. |
Semi-p-port should be great if the insert is done well so you don't have sealing issues with the cooling system.
The shot of intake air/gas on the apex seal is a welcome cooling respite to an overworked component in our engines. 2 intake manifolds are readily available now- CX Racing to use stock REW upper intake or Pro-Jay for 4150 TB style intake. |

Semi pp is more reliable than full pp as far I understand. But I don't know where full Bridgeport compares to semi pp had been combined with several different side ports. Such as large street port plus semi-pp. Or Bridgeport with semi-pp. So reliability can vary.
