Shop recomendation for gauge fix
 

So I'm in the Richmond, VA area and my Tach started jumping around, now it mostly sits at 0 but sometimes will jump. I found a few DIY threads on here about re-soldering the connections on the back of your gauges but I don't have a soldering iron and am not too confident on my abilities with the circuitry. So my question is can anybody recommend a shop that might be familiar with fixing these or if anybody in the area or a couple hours driving distance that has fixed this problem before be willing to help me out? I will drive to you and obviously pay for the service. Or can I just take it to any old electronics shop and just have them re-solder all the old connections and be done with it? Any help or insight is appreciated.

Are you planning to drive your care somewhere and have it fixed, or take your gauge cluster somehwere? If the former, you should find a shop that is familiar with RX7's. If the later, any TV or electronics repair shop should be able to do it, but be forwarned that getting the cluster out is tricky and be very careful taking the hood off (comes off with the cluster and face) as it is prone to crack and runs like $500 from Mazda (if they even sell them anymore)

If anyone knows any tricks on getting that off w/o cracking it, it would be good knowledge

Ok thanks, I was planning on taking it out, and unfortunately the hoods already cracked when I bought the car (seller said he will send one though). So I guess just have them resolder all the connections?

My odometer isn't working, but i plan to give this a shot. based on the feedback in the thread, it appears to do the trick.
