Reliable Mechanics near DC
Good afternoon everyone! I recently moved up to DC from Tennessee and have a 1989 Mazda FC3S (she is my world). With that said, are there any reliable mechanics in the area?
Thank you for your time! |
For anything Rotary specific you'll need to drive a few hours.

Look up The Shade Tree Project on facebook. The guy is also on this forum too, that's how I found him, I have yet to schedule my carb rebuild ($$ :( ), he's been working with rotaries since 1998. He's in Bethesda. There's also Precision Rotary up in Westminster but that's probably a little bit of a drive for you.

I can confirm that The Shade Tree Project does excellent work. He's a great guy and knows his stuff and can do just about anything you need. He's bee working on my car for over a year now doing a shit ton of stuff. Here's his facebook page,

Down south close to Norfolk is Angel motorsports. Plus you can hit the beach up after you drop the car off. I have seen nothing but art come from that place.

There is a West Coast and an East Coast Angel Motorsports. They are brothers. Michael has a shop in Chesapeake. John is on the West Coast.

There’s Angel Motorsports in Chesapeake which is about 3-4 hours away from DC( they also have sweet coast shop). Shade tree project is local and is a mobile mechanic. He is able to come to your location for repairs etc. Met him at a car show this past summer, dude seems very knowledgeable when it comes to rotaries.

Damn! He must have closed down.. just went back to the message conversation on Facebook and it seems the page has been deactivated :( There is a shop up in Westminster but I forgot the name.. looks like they focused more on RX-8s, but I'm still sure they could help out.

Unique Precision Rotary in Mt. Airy ? If so I know an FC owner, Noel, who just got his t2 swap done there. Unique - Mike Quinn.

Mount Airy? Damn, closer than I thought! Haven't really gone to any local shops - as much as I'd like to, learning on my own is cheaper in the long run especially for me, working full time at minimum wage.
Seems to be a reliable shop! |
