I live in the Derry NH area and I have an 85 GS. I dont see many rex's around here. I would love to go to a meet sometime and see what everyone does to their cars. I am fairly new the the rotary scene and have owned my rex for a year. Its in pretty decent shape for its age and runs great with no rust. Only mods I have done are header exhaust, cat removal, rebuilt slighty modded nikki with mech secondaries, and other mechanical things to get the car running as it should. Its nice to have a forum like this to reach out to others with the same interests.

hey jbn7474 sounds like you done pretty much the same things as ive done to my 85 gsl, exept i just rebuilt my carb and yeh i hate vac secondaries, but have em lol. i have my TII engine all set to go in her though, gettin the gsl-se oil pan was fine but i cant find a used gsl-se front cover cheap anywhere so im at a snag there. but i guess i can just work on fabricating the gxl fuel tank baffle and sending unit into the gsl tank this fall, as im crossing my fingers i can have this swap mostly done by next summer. i wouldnt mind havin a small get-together soon in like manch or sumthin, id love to check out your gs....

Sounds like you have a nice project going there. I'm sure your car will be badass with that TII swap. I hope you find your neccessary parts to make the rest of it happen. I would be up for a meet in Manch to check out each others Rex's. I really want a Sterling carb bad, but the wait is so long for one right now. I contacted Dennis and he4 said like 8-10 weeks. I suppose it isnt that bad, but to pay for something and wait that long just doesnt justify things right now. The Racing beat Holly setup is just to darn expensive too and I dont think the power increase will justify a grand for the carb, fuel pump, etc. My friend did reccomend a ram air type set up with a small low profile hood scoop and matching the air cleaner to the duct to allow cooler airflow into the carb. that might be the cheaper route to gain a wee bit more power like a cold air intake.

If you're serious about going to a holley, I have a 465 holley sitting around unused in Mason. Definitely would not be as expensive as buying directly from racing beat but you would need the intake and a good tune to make things run properly. Just a thought.

Hey Swbtm, Does the Holley Carb come with the air cleaner too. When you say it needs a tune are you reffering to a rebuild? Or are you reffering to jet changes? I would like to see a couple of pics if possible. Does it have vacuum sencondaries?

A tune would most likely mean jet changes and metering block adjustments. I bought a hop up kit (new gaskets, floats and all) just after I started work on the entire rebuild process, tore down the carb and did not see any major build up in the passageways. I replaced all the gaskets and put her back together. When I installed it back on my newly rebuilt sp 12a it would only go about 15mph before leaning out and sputtering... so I ended up buying another racing beat holley. (at the time it seemed to be a good idea... now I know it just needed to be adjusted for the larger ports, it wasn't bridging enough fuel from the primaries to the secondaries... oh well live and learn) I've attached the closest shot I have of the carb... it is a little dusty from sitting around for months, it will clean up though.

Unfortunately I only have one air cleaner and that it in use currently. I do have a jdn factory 12a turbo kit that I will be installing hopefully this winter so that might free up the air cleaner... but that is only if I can find a garage in NJ in which to do the work.

Hi all, is anyone from NH going to trek down to that big car show in Bridgeport Ct. on the 19th? I heard its all old school import cars with our RX's representing too. I am thinking about venturing down since there doesnt seem to be any big meets up this way. I think our state should represent some RX's down there.
