Need local FD/PFC help....
 

I'm located in Lancaster PA. I need a quick test of my pfc. I can't get past the apexi logo and the car will not stay running. My stock ecu keeps the car running. I just need some help from someone familiar with the PFC to check it on their car. Don't want to send it out if it's something simple. There's a case of beer or lunch waiting.

I'm willing to drive up to an hour away to figure this out.

I'm waiting on Dave's reply as we speak, I'd prefer to have some one local try it on their car. There are just to many wierd things going on to just assume the PFC is fried. Hey Sloasfk, how about some TGIF Jack Daniels steak and shrimp and a cold one for 20 minutes of your time?...otherwise I'll have to take the drive to KDR's.

Well, I don't know much about PowerFCs. Have you checked the FAQ? According to DaleClark, the Apexi logo being stuck on the commander screen is caused by a wire that is proned to coming loose...

Also, my FD is prepetually in New Jersey(engine job that became so much more :)). My friends FD has a stock ECU though, so maybe you could test it on his? it's being sold to a guy in Manheim on Friday(or so the story goes), but maybe you can get ahold of him before then...I should see him tonight, so I'll ask.

BTW, he knows less about FDs than I do, so for troubleshooting, he probably won't be much good.

But other than that, how about a TGIF(or other location) meet after my car comes home?

Thanks sloasfck, TGIF is at the rear of Park City(the Long's park side). I just want to plug the PFC in and see if I can get into it normally. I plugged my stock ECU in and the car idles bad, won't go past 3000 without breaking up, and temps were climbing. I was told I could drive it with the stock ecu as long as I did'nt boost. So I'm thinking maybe something is shot in the engine harness(on it's last leg), which is causing the problems with the ecu's. Let me know, I'm getting hungry.

Its a big bill ($700) but if you need a new wire harness get it sooner then later. All the heat cycles kill these and the car is getting old.

I hope it all goes well and just a FYI Dave can be hard to get on the phone. I think its just him and Kim running the show. But hes a great tech and can set your PFC up good.

I lived of Rt 30 up from the Outlets for a few years, cant say I miss the smell of Lancaster :)

More than that...I just had my harness done in my FD. $750 for the harness from Malloy, plus labor for removing the engine, installing the harness and reinstalling the engine. Though they replaced my harness in the middle of an engine job anyway, so I caught a break there, but he'd have to take that into consideration.

Oh and I don't think anyone in the world would miss the smell of Lancaster :rofl:

Winded up going to KDR today. Pfc is shot, but still covered by warranty. Dave explained that my harness could have shorted it out. Time to replace it. Thanks anyway. Later.
