Looking for a professional engine builder in VA!!!
 

I have tried to build my own engine for the past year and it has not been purrdy. The engine starts and runs fine, but for some reason it likes to burn oil and smoke its tail off. Im gonna start competing in drift events this summer and I need a reliable built engine that can handle 400hp+. Can anyone lead me in the right direction.

I was gonna contact them today. The engine right now has the following mods:

Mild streetport...by me
Pineapple racing gasket set
rear housing has less than 2k
front pineapple racing oil mod
Dont know if the eccentric shaft is modded.
Ill check compression today
car runs and drives but it smokes a little too much for my desires.

To the OP: I know he can be busy at times, but maybe give some thought to Ray @ PFSupercars up in Fredrick, MD. I know he has done some really nice work for Ernie T.

+1 for Ray @ PFS.

Ernie's Rx7 along with many other high powered Rx7s can vouch for the rotary magician Ray.

PFS is one of the best around, BUT be ready to wait, and I mean wait. If you are in no hurry, he is the one around here, if you need your car in less than 4-6 months, you might want to talk to them (PFS) first.

I have used ray for tunning. LAst time I called him to build and engine he say it would be about a 4month delay and I didnt wait that long.

Seems a drive to NJ may be your best bet. Plus you'll be sharing the wealth with another respectable shop. Not to mention, turn around time might be a tad bit shorter if you schedule the rebuild before the spring.

Definetly. Im a very hands on person and love working on my engine. I also build drift car for the local...built SR20det, EVO engines, LS1 240's, and custom roll cages. Too bad i dont know a whole lot about the rotary engine. i should be ashamed saying that beccause im puerto rican...lol. I tried building this one myself but dont feel like I did the best job I could do.

yes we are.....I need a competetive car this summer and we might be taking a trip up to NJ in a few weeks and represent IRP on track.

There are a few catz that do it out here in VA, but piece of mind is what I want.

My engine is not blown and i just want someone with a rotary background better than mine to take a close look at it. Goodfellas could be that person very soon if the weather wasnt 20*:icon_tdow. Gotta try to convince the wife to let me use some of that income tax refund money:blush:

i have been dailying mine when its not snowing. still needs some more work but it's running well. it was on the lift at IRP a few weeks ago fixing a couple minor issues

my biggest issue is i'm still running the stock torsen due to $$$$$ other than that its pretty much ready to go

Mine still has te stock torsen also. I wanted to get the motor stuff done, so i can move into building the roll cage and other safety item before this summer. I put it up for sale for the time being, but im still gonna go forth with trying to fix it.

so you drifted it with the T78 and the torsen didn't blowup ? maybe i'm being over paranoid

yup..I only did two events making 425hp 330tq.

The plan is to install the restrictor on the turbo an run a -10 return line.

i remember that video. guess i'll try it and see what happens. i messed around locally and the car is pretty good but much different than my 400rwhp s13... it was much easier to slide around

Ah.. I thought you were speaking about another engine builder in Miami..

I should know something really soon "goodfellafd3s". Im re-doing my feed line and return line from the turbo to give it one last go at it tomorrow. If it doesnt stop or a least minimize the smoke coming out...il definetly be sending it your way. I will need it back in about 2 months if I end up pulling it..

If there is no oil in the throttle body then it's not the turbo oil feed line.

That leaves three possible problems.

1.) If you ported the irons the intake ports are violating the oil control ring path.
2.) The oil control ring spring(s) are backwards
3.) A oil control ring o-ring is compromised

I'd check those oil control ring springs carefully and make sure they're facing the right way relative to the direction of the rotor's rotation.

If you feel comfortable taking the engine apart I wouldn't give up.
