Things might be different out your way, I know sports cars have been very popular on the east coast forever. But around here (the midwest) finding a place that does complete repaints has been getting harder. I had a paint guy that I've taken all my stuff to for almost 20 years. But he's getting older and can't find any reliable, good help. And there's no one to replace him, not many young guys are taking the trade up any longer. He agreed to do my last car only on the condition, that do all the disassembly and reassembly work on the car.

A whole car repaint is considered "restoration" work. Most all body shops now a days are build around doing crash damage, where they just replace panels and fix more localized damage all authorized and paid through insurance companies. There are some guys who still focus more on restoration type work for enthususts, but they are usually booked up and most of their cliental have the means to just drop off a project and pick it back up totally done. Not unusual to drop 20 / 30K or more on higher end projects like that. It kind of leaves cars like ours, that won't be worth as much, out in the cracks between crash damage and full blown restorations. Here's a pic of the car I currently have in paint. I took it apart in April and It finally got in primer a couple weeks ago. It only gets worked on, when they are slow in their normal work. I don't expect it to be done until sometime this winter or next spring.

New Trimble Auto Body in Clifton did work on my car and I'm very happy with it. I'd show you the car but it's with IRP unfortunately. I need to resolve that too.
