i'm taking a break from motorcycles for now and focus on building my street car. i'm not trying to push my way into a club. i was just talking to a few friends on how rotary guys from long island don't stick together. we should be talked about when we show up at the track. let other rotary racers and owners that we take this sh#t serious. i'm ready to make a name for myself at the track and street. hopefully we can all go to some events as a long islang group. no more sh#t talking. my name is nate castro ask anybody i'm all about drag racing.

slowdown? I think you are taking my short sentence comment the wrong way.
Im just saying that even if you race a car with more power, less weight, E85, race gas, whatever the case is, the person who can drive their car the best that day will win. You dont always need the fastest car. My opinion is that a car with less horsepower might have a advantage if it can get itself down the road while the other car is busy spinning tires and losing traction. And Nate, I know you from back in the day when you were at Orient, welcome to the club- the more the merrier! |

At least the rotary shop owners (most of them) all respect one another. At least I feel we do.. It's usually the guys that don't have cars of their own who start all the trouble. |

That's because most are hater's or jealous or just scumbags... Not speaking about everyone but most... People always seem to start shit and talk shit about how they could do better and so and so don't know shit, and he's slow and blah blah... These things dont help getting people associated with each other. All it does is divide's everyone and it's one of the many reason's why this small community gets smaller..

Well....Joe Hahn is the father of one of my very close friends, Chris. Joe has been talking about wanting to mess with a rotary for a while now. I'd say your tune is in good hands. :D
And yes, the bikes he builds are insane. But did you see the turbo 'busa powered Banshee (Lone Star frame) he helped build for the Saudi Arabian prince a few years back? Yeah.....uphill sand dune drag racing in the middle east....now that was simply nuts. |

On New Years Day, I boarded an Emirates Airlines plane at New York’s JFK Airport for a 12 hour flight to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. I was meeting up with Orient Express’ Joe Hahn, who had built a one-of-a-kind Velocity Turbo ‘Busa ATV for Yasar Bin Saudan’s Speed Motos race team, based out of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Yasar picked me up at the airport and we drove 3 hours into the desert to Moreeb Hill—the biggest dune suitable for racing in all of the Arab world. Yasar would pilot the 550 horsepower ‘Busa ATV straight up the side of the 45 degree, 300 meter dune. But first, the “bike” would have to arrive. Delayed by the shipper, the ‘Busa didn’t arrive at the airport in Dubai until the day of the race. Now, Joe and I had recently gone to Puerto Rico for drag races back in October. With Puerto Rico completely blanketed by rain that weekend, the race was canceled and our long trip was for naught. A rainout seemed unlikely to happen in the desert, but there was another possibility we hadn’t accounted for. Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Maktoum died the day of the race. The U.A.E. went into an extended mourning period and the Desert Challenge at Moreeb Hill was postponed until February 8th and 9th. Joe and Yasar were able to test the ‘Busa, making several successively more powerful passes until the cases ripped out of the back. “It needs an outboard bearing support,” Joe concluded as he packed the motor up for shipping back to the U.S. He fabricated one and headed back to the U.A.E., hopeful for a record run up the hill. Joe also added a stronger box swingarm and experimented with different sized tires and paddles. Everything was working and the ‘Busa was making consistent 7.5 second passes up the Hill, where the record stood at 8.0 in timed runs. But timing during the event starts when the light goes green, not by tripping a starting line beam. Yasar was slow on the tree and finished second to a visibly slower, less powerful turbo ‘Busa. Still, the team was pleased and is looking forward to races throughout the season. Look for extended versions of the story in ATV Rider and Straightliner, the official magazine of AMA/Prostar. |
the first pic i believe it's a banshee engine. the rest are busa engine. it ripped the tranny out of the engine case.

I didn't realize you had gone over to the UAE with Joe for that whole deal. Awsome! Now I have to get Chris to dig up that DVD of the test passes again.
When Yasar missed the shift (2-to-3 I think?)and detonated the assembly, it was sickening to see the oil pouring out the bottom of the frame. Then Joe tries to walk up the dune to see the carnage. He made it what, about 6 steps?! That damn sand hill is steep. |
