Sunday afternoon (11th) seems like a great idea. I have church worship service in the mornings but after that anything sounds good. Seems like there will be a cooling trend around here so temps. will probably be bearable. I like the Carytown meeting spot, but parking space can be so limited.

DavidR 08-01-02 08:43 PM

I agree with RXJJANG about the parking space, but Double T's has some good BBQ. Route 5 has some nice sections, we could meet up somewhere out Route 5.
I also have church to go to early Sunday.

src666 08-02-02 11:36 AM

Is this an open event? It would be nice to finally find some other 7 enthusiasts in the area.

sunday the 11th

sunday the 11th sounds good to me. cary town burgers and fries has my vote, plenty of parking, but limited space in the restaurant, so that may be out of the question.

rgordon1979 08-02-02 11:44 AM

and yes src666, everyone is welcome..

Zach McAfee 08-02-02 11:58 AM

Oh damnit, there is a VMSC autoX on Sunday at Southside Speedway. There's also an open run sesion on Saturday. Anyone (everyone) up for that? I'll post some details in a few.

Sounds good, racing without the threat of losing your license:)

Zach McAfee 08-02-02 12:08 PM

From the VMSC website:
"FREE! We are hosting a free Hot Lap day at Southside Speedway on Saturday, August 10th. Everyone is welcome, with no pre-registration required. If you want to drive around a banked oval just for fun and to learn the proper line and technique, join us there!"

They haven't specified if its going to be members only or not. It would be cool having a bunch of Rexies there anyway!

afterburn27 08-02-02 12:09 PM

I live about 5 minutes away from southside speedway. :) That could be something to do if we can all make it, but it might be a little far away for some people.

Zach McAfee 08-02-02 12:23 PM

SSS is only 40 mins from downtown, if that. I'm still not sure about whether its members only or not, but you can check the VMSC thread and C4 yourself.

Haven't gotten onto the forum in a while, but things are looking good. Unfortunately, I might not be able to come since I'll be busy with school work. Jonathan should know what I'm talking about. Keep the posts coming.

Peace Out

Ok boys and girls, heres the word:

"Hot Laps on Saturday Aug 10th is open to non-members this year. Since we are having 5 events at Southside (Next day Aug 11th) and a Fall Series of 4 events (TBA) it is a chance for new Autocross drivers to get in some experience at the site. No trophies- No costs. We will have the loaner helmuts there. Everyone will have to sign the INSURANCE WAVIERS AND HAVE THEIR CARS TECH INSPECTED. This is a serious track, good opportunity for fun and practice. Also... trouble. NO CRAZIES WILL BE TOLERATED. NOTHING RECKLESS, ETC. GET THE PICTURE? Come if you understand what we are trying to do here... please stay home if you don't."

A little harsh, but in other words, your invited. So who's in? We can all meet at the track or meet somewhere else and drive there. Post your ideas...

rgordon1979 08-02-02 03:14 PM

count me in. I do think we should meet somewhere and travel down together. it would make things more organized and those of us that are new to the area would not have to worry about getting lost....my .02...

Also thought I'd let you know someone hit the wall in their BMW last time. This is why the message is so blunt to not do anything stupid/experimental when your surrounded by walls.

ttt

Zach McAfee 08-02-02 04:13 PM

Ok, now that I'm leaving work I probably won't post anytime this weekend (I get paid to post). Let's get some ideas together:

#1 Where to meet (meet somewhere and drive to SSS)
#2 What time (I think the event starts at 12 noon, we should be there by 11~11:30).

And for those who don't know where the track is here are some
directions.

Josepi 08-03-02 10:01 AM

I live in southside and work in richmond, so if anyone needs to make a caravan for the fastest route down to SSS, i'm willing to meet up somewhere like carytown and take anyone down. Just let me know, btw, you can count me in for the 10th.

DavidR 08-03-02 02:19 PM

This would certainly be interesting to go to. I don't know if I will be able to drive or not. I'm having some boost problems. I may drive anyway. Who else is going? Maybe we could meet at Brewsters afterwards since it is right their.

afterburn27 08-03-02 08:30 PM

Do you mean brusters the ice cream place, or some other "brew"sters that I am not familiar with?

It sounds like the official date is becoming the 10th at Southside speedway. I will probably at least show up on the 10th just to watch and talk some. Doing something afterwards sounds good too.

I would be willing to go with Joe to caravan down with some people since I live right by the track and I know my way around some. :)

I have to get new tires for the miata tomorrow because on the way home from working on my TR6 the rear-passenger tire shredded some of its thread. I thought the whole tire blew out when I heard the flapping sound. :( It was almost time to get new ones anyway and they lasted a suprisingly long time for how soft they were.

88 vert 08-03-02 08:49 PM

hey keep me updated the 10th sounds good to me where are we going to meet or we going to meet at the sss?????

Zach McAfee 08-03-02 08:51 PM

Ok, afterburn27 do you wanna call the shot on where to meet before the race? We can drive from there with all our sevens in a row. :D

Make it somewhere everyone can find easily and with a decent size parking lot.

Zach McAfee 08-03-02 09:03 PM

OR we could meet up with Josepi at the Carytown Ukrops...

afterburn27 08-03-02 09:21 PM

Hmmm... I think we could all meet at the Carytown Ukrops at say... 10:15 and leave for sss around 10:30? How does that sound to everybody?
