about future colector car insurance?
 

Hey does anyone know any info regarding about these type of auto insurance, someone from the rotorfest mention to me is suppose to be way cheaper than regular insurance. any recommodation will be helpful.

Hey Kris,
I haven't really had a chance to fully look into this after we talked about this at rotorfest, but I just gave it a quick look on the net and found some info, I hope this serves as valuable to some of the "non" daily driver sevens such as yourself and I.

Certain vehicles are exempt from inspections, but they do vary, so be sure to check what is required for yours.

To be classified as a "collector vehicle" you need to apply when you register and make sure that the vehicle:

1. Is not registered as a "historic vehicle" or a "street rod"
2. Is not driven more than 3,000 miles per year (proof available at odometer
reading)
3. Is insured as a limited use "collector vehicle"

So i guess what I take from this info is you have to get in touch with your insurance company to switch them over to "collector insurance" then reregister your car with the state as "collector". Than every year you have to take it to the inspection station, NOT for any emmisions test though, just so they can see you have not driven more then 3,000 miles and make sure your odometer works alright. Sounds like a great deal if its true.

Both of those companies are ridiculously strict. As in you cannot take your car to work, you cannot park your car anywhere but your garage and the show. You MUST have a daily driver that is under 5 yrs old and <100,000 miles. Complete waste of my time.

I think one of the best things to do would be an Agreed Value Policy.

Hey thanks guys, Hagerty said that my car is not qualified because it's a 93 they only want cars that is 25yrs and older,I will have to look at grundy, btw I do have 3 extra cars to get around, I fell that NJM Insurance is ripping me off, so it's time to move on to another company.

Try Heacock Classic. i think they're in Fla. they got me an agreed value policy for my GSL-SE with the 3000 mile limitation very cheap.

You might be able to get an agreed value policy with your DD carrier and get some discounts
