lol, something I just started to think of when talking to YF19 in the "Maryland Guys" thread....

Basically, here's how it stands..... In light of the many great multiplayer games being released this season for various consoles, I propose that all the gamers who feel the have the skills to take on anyone else in this area be given the chance to show what they got.... Xbox, PS2, GC, N64, SNES, computer.... doesn't matter, just bring it.....

As it stands, i've got a friendly competition to settle out between YF19 and Tofuball already, but if I can turn it into an meet event, I think that'd be all the more fun....

I'd even be willing to have such faith in my skills to also suggest a pot..... Winner takes all, the respect of knowing you pwn AND the cash.....

All i'd need to figure out is a big enough place to hold it, time to do it, and who wants in for what system.....

Ok, I'm kidding. I'll donate some good stuff to the pot if there is a set, IE, 1st gets 60%, 2nd gets 30%, 3rd gets 9%, 4th gets 1% :p

Cuz I dont have high hopes of being 1st as the last time I sat down and played a game for a bit was a little over a year ago :-p

If we get enough people and you want an even wider variety, I can bring my Saturn (marvel vs capcom, guardian heros) and my Neogeo (samurai shodown 1-3). Oh and i go this latest game called Pong. Not sure if you younger generation have heard of it. might be a little too advanced for some haha j/k. I can probably dig out my network cables and spare switches and get a 10-15 person LAN setup also for the non-console folks.

There might be some incentive for having door prizes and 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize and maybe a best team award or MVP prize as well. if not, bring food or a movie to share or something. and if you're not into the gaming that's cool too. maybe bring some cds and get some "stuff" for you to "evaluate".

Depends on the game as far as money goes.... but I'm in for a tournament...

used to play UT2K4. Epic as a game company really knows how to treat their customer base right. Minimal updates and updates that include extras .. they go the extra mile.

i can bring my PS2 and show you kaido battle .. but you definitely need a wheel though. GT4 is suppose to be out sometime mid december. i think the latest release date is 12/16

Great ideas, YF19.....

An Xbox, PS2, and computer LAN setup would be awesome...
As for the door prizes, since i'm not in connection with any local gaming stores or anything, it'd be kinda rough to figure out what to get the runner-up.... however, I think something fitting the theme of each game that's played would be clever.... Steering wheel or one of those Zip Zap R/C cars for Gran Turismo, NFL 2k5 or something for the football guys, etc.... nothing too expensive but still cool nonetheless....

As for the systems to play, I should have covered that in the beginning.... The systems I have on hand for use are:

Modded Xbox with N64, SNES, and GBA abilities (One controller)
PS2 (if I can get the tray laser to work properly again) (Two controllers)
SNES (two controllers)
80's Gameboy
GBA SP
Sega Game Gear
Sega Saturn x2 (Two controllers and two light guns)
Sega Dreamcast (Two controllers)

I'll go home tonight and review my gaming library to make a list of games that everyone would want to compete in, and i'll let you guys decide on which ones you want to put down on.... Also, if you've got your own systems and comps, put down what you have in this thread and bring them.... since I don't know crap about Computer games outside of Starcraft, Unreal Tournament, Counterstrike, and Gunbound, i'll let someone else be in charge of heading up that department in terms of rules and what not..... I've still got to put together a few rules for the console wars anyway... :D

Toss in any extra game you want to try and compete in, and so long as there's at least two other people willing to go against you I can put together something.... although I suspect that I should save the big bet games for high end titles.... :P

Also, in regards to Gran Turismo and other racing games.... should we go with "stock only" cars or "run what ya bring"? :D

I had a LAn party at my house a long time ago. Just a couple buddies. Everybody has their favorite so everyone got their turn. I'm into milsim stuff so I picked Ravenshield. One of the other guys likes rally driving so we did Colin McRae3 and I think we went old skool with one guy. I think it was something like Mechwarrior2 or 3.

Prizes are cool. Worst case cash or a gift certificate will do. Doesn't have to be uber fancy. Please don't give out zipzap cars. they'll break so fast. Mall certificate say to Whitemarsh is decent since they have an anime store, video store, clothes, food, books, boobyzines, etc.

As for GT - it's open right now. you can setup something elaborate like a manfacturer's race or an endurance race for the hardcore folks. you can have a custom race, drift competition or slug race. a coworker and I were at bestbuy during lunch because he was looking for some DVDs. i was doodling around with GT2. we ended up racing each other ... i think it was a daihaitsu something and a beat or a vitz on the longest track. i think i recall each lap being 2+ minutes. haha. with only 60hp, it's pretty brutal but we kept bumping into each other and trying to slow each other down. i can't use my save because i cheated and have about 20498502829802382093840234208 credits.

i haven't tried auto modellista if anyone has that.

I really disliked Auto Modellista.... Traded it to a friend for "Kingdom Hearts", and I haven't regretted it since.... lol

And to tell you, I NEVER sell off any of my games or systems (with the exception of my long lost Collecovision ~_~), and I still own "State of Emergency"... so for me to get rid of something means it was a true abomination in my eyes....

Also, I never thought of having a drift tourney in GT3: A-spec.... I have just the car to win that one too, if it's found that we can "run what you bring" :D

Guess I better start scheming up the different rules and challenges now.... although I still need to figure out where a big enough place to do this would be....

I haven't played any games to speak of in years....but i'll be game if we can play the best multiplayer ev4r!

Quake Team Fortress or Mega Team Fortress.

Btw...if any of you haven't played it..there are STILL active clans...and there are all kinds of updated clients that make the game look decent compared to the original. Meh now I have to go play...Let's see if I still have any skill.

i would be glad to hand someone their ass in a drift battle on gt3, or just racing for that matter:) with the new steering wheel for gt4 should make drifting ALOT better

Rumormill has it that valve is going to reopen their team fortress project since the source engine (a la HalfLife2) is out. I've heard nothing but praise about the engine itself so they'll be really nice.

.. in a clan. wow. ok, i'll admit it. i was once in one. good group of people. we did the whatever was out but i think we focused on Tribes and Mechwarrior2. Tribes was fun. i haven't had a chance to take a look at the new one yet.

setting up a server wouldn't be that hard. the connection is what i would be concerned the most about. i knew someone at the UMBC help desk that had a medal of honor server setup in his office. all of use would play on his server but use my connection for voicechat.

i definitely want to check out the new GT4 wheel that's coming out. it'll make my driving games a lot easier. kaido battle SUCKS with the controller.

oh man .. ddr. hmm ... maybe i'll head to dave and busters this wkend and see if i'm still decent at pump it up.

lol, but would you be willing to travel down to these parts to try it? :D
