pp holley intake

we are putting together a 12a pp for a friend of ours and he wants to rin a holley carb style. i did a search on the furums and on the web and only came up with 2 different styles. here are some pics. any body knows which would work better. this car is going to be strictly race car. i think that the intake with with the divide ports will work better. any opinions appriciate

My two cents - and I mention I have not run a Holley fed peripheral port engine, so discard it if you want. But the way the V8 intake manifolds that Holleys are typically bolted to work, there's typically a big opening below the carb, and if you think about it, even on a dual plane manifold, there's going to be something drawing fuel out of the venturis about all the time. With the split manifold on the peripheral port, it's going to be drawing bigger pulses of air, followed by a lot of air flow... so a lot more uneven, which isn't as much how they're designed to work. So I think the single big opening would probably be easier to tune, as it's going to flow air more similarly to how the carb is designed to work.

That's my interpretation though. And with enough work you can get them to do all sorts of things; Racing Beat jets them to work with their manifolds which separate every port to a different carb venturi, for example, but from what I've heard the jetting on those ends up weird.
