need help with carb on pport
hey guys, my question is since webber i.d.a carbs are so dam expensive here it got me thinking about running a holley carb of some sort. they are a hell of a lot cheaper here and money being the main thing holding me back from finishing my fc i want to take a few shot cuts with out obviously buying junk and doing half ass jobs.
my fuel system is all holley so it makes sense to choose a holley carb i just dont know anything about them the sizes and if any one has done it be for. any help would be great.. even two smaller carbs 1 for each rotor??? o my engine is a new s5 n/a 13bpport i know many off you will just say save and get the webber ida or go injection but i want to be a bit deffarent with this car it is basicly un heard of in new zealand having a pported n/a fc as all the cars are jdm imports and all turbo over here so a holley carbed 13bppport is awsome im my opinion haha |
A friend of mine runs a semi p-port, Half bridge on a 650 Holly which he drives around town and takes to the drag strip and it runs really well, I dont know much about carb im more of an EFI guy but I know it can be done
|
They also have dellortos that are nice.

I have my 12app running on a modified nikki at the moment and its putting out 194hp at the wheels, so Im sure you could get alot more out of a holley, It will cost to fabricate a manifold though and a four barrel manifold is alot more work than a two barrel so you would have to weigh up the cost gains out of going down the four barrel route, Empi carbs are good bang for buck, have a talk to the green brothers in tauranga, Im pretty sure the 13bpp hatch they built which runs an 11.1 down the 1/4 uses a empi carb,

Anyway i no of a guy who fitted a (from memory) 650 and 850 holley to a standard batty, He used the stock ignition and just cut an modded a s6 lim to adapt the carb's, He said the 650 was good for hot/cold startring and driving around town but lacked top end, And that the 850 was a pain in the ass to tune for low down driving but went like f#*& up top, So yea can be done and defintly be somthing different ! good luck with what you decide :icon_tup: |

Yep he rejeted to suit, Not sure what too tho, And the only sidey ive seen was on a mate's full cut 12a bridge that was tuned at 7heaven back in the day, It souned way more throaty than the niki but he didn't keep it on too long as it would cough an fart after 6000rpm which turned out to be 2 stufd coil's and shite leads. You got any build pics ? interested to see haha, Not many n/a fc's around.[/QUOTE] oh ok the guy that had it on trademe said his 323 pulls a 13sec1/4 mile with the side draft on it and it gose well. im going to take some photos when the wether gets better i started a build thread https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-294/my-s4-build-nz-styles-974868/ |

yea i think they are a scatter blanket i have seen a few of them in nz i think you are not alowed to race/compete in any event with out one in new zealand stu could tell ya he drags his 12app in nelson
realy so you think the price to get a new one will come down? |
if they come off the euro their currency won't be worth squat and there will be arbitrage opportunities. you could buy one from here in the states today for $490 USD brand new but I see the NZ$ is worth 77 cents US.
