Lets build the perfect Peripheral port.

Hi guys so because of weight issues im changing my race class and is no longer dictated to use the Rennesis in my rx8 rallycar that is why ive chosen to go the peripheral route,
So most of the threads and most of the shelf parts are 5-10 years old. thats why i dicidede to start this dream thread. because much like the rennesis Bridge engine everthing seams to have evolved. For example i dont se much threads about bearing failure in the 5-10 year old thread however in the later threads i seams like a common problem. So this is what im up to.

Prebuild Peripheral Housings.
Rx.8 rotors with std seals.
Rx-8 e-shaft or is the Rew better???
rx8 high power stationary gears that is one thing im not sure about theres seems to be alot more bearing failures in the rennesis gears compared to the REW ore is that just a case of more cars being arround?
Balanced assembly.
50 mm jenvay throttlebodies with 4 injectors HOW BIG SHOUDL THEY BE:??

So does anyone have anything to say ore any ideas they have played arround with?

Best regards Rasmus??

i'd have no trouble using the Rx8 eshaft and gears. i think you see Rx8's with bearing problems because they run low oil pressure, and its a big heavy car with a small engine, so i think they get used pretty hard.

Rx8 rotors are probably ok, but you want the older style seal thats taller, if thats what you mean by STD then ok!

for port timing use the latest spec, 80 intake open and 80 intake close.

for injector, the PP's dont seem to want as much fuel per hp as a side port, 2x1000cc is in the ballpark. if you're revving it really high, it may need more

Thanks i was actually planning on using 4x 650 ccm injectors that way i might get a better idle.
The stationary gear are so mch cheaper to the rx8 that i was just worrieng a bit. But on the other hand they are also stock redlined higher so they should be better.
When what i meant by seals was stock atkins rennesis Apexseals. Wont that work or do i have to get the rotors machined to tak to old style seals an perhaps get a set of carbon seals?

should i use 50, 51 or 52 mm intake and long ore short intake manifold.

First things that come to my mind on RX-8 bearing wear (hadn't heard of it) is Mazda changed the motor oil to 5W-20 and raised the rev limiter from 8,000rpm to 9,000rpm for the RX-8. I would expect more bearing wear over the older engines since everything else is similar spec.

I put some 13B Mazda Factory Race rotor housings in my Mazdaspeed cart and it showed they were still available and only a couple hundo more bucks than Racing Beat p-port rotor housings.

Have you considered factory rotor housings?
I think they usually make more than built up production rotor housings since the exhaust port is smaller and ready for whatever porting (all Aluminum, no sleeve).

sadly we are not allowed to buy from mazda speed here in europe. and second im actualle having some housings build with what ive asked to be as torque oriented as possible

you can't? that sucks... its about 95% the purchases I make for this car are from them...

Mazdaspeed still hasn't confirmed my rallycross results from 2016.

Then again they also didn't pay out for my 3rd place at Nationals in 2014 because reasons, so I figure they can fark right off. Not like they really stock anything for FBs or RX-3s anyway.

Thanks for all your replies guys sadly the guys who sold me most of the parts for the buil screwed me over. Luckely there was a Peripheral engine ons this forum for sale and i scraped all my money together and got it bought. otherwise i wouldnt have made season start in march,

While i have you guys here can i ask one more question. The rx8 have very limited exhaust space and the biggest exhaust i can think of would be: 2" manifold 20 inch to a 3 inch collector with a 3 inch muffler in the middle of the car and then again at the diff goint to a double set of 2,5 inch mufflers. would this be sufficient on an engine like this. ?
