so i've been collecting parts for a while to build a more powerful engine for my dd/drift car and now that i've got some time to do it i guess i better get started.

i'm trying to decide what ecm to purchase for the throttle body i already have and how to do my intake manifold. i have a slip on dual throat throttle body from a 1100 cc yamaha snowmobile that is nearly the exact same dimensions as a weber ida(slip on clamp like a motorcycle not flange like a weber) and has 2 injectors in it already. tps is included and throttle cable will be straight across swap from stock. already have rb road race header. crane ignition box. is there enough material on a rb weber manifold to cut the flange and weld tube to clamp my tb to?

the spare block i have is a low mileage s4 13b 6port that i'm debating on how far from stock i want to go with it. realistically looking for 200whp the block has sat in storage and even in a shed that filled with water that froze for a winter so condition is questionable at best. what is the forums advice from here? i guess the engine in the car is running fine so i should set up the itb first? then worry about swapping the low mileage longblock later? how much porting will need to be done to get a safe 200whp from?

Why not buy an IDA flange from Mazdatrix and then just weld the tubes to that?

got a new dd so this car sits in front of my tool box inside the garage. decided my best bet is to semi pport this thing and add the throttle body instead of replace the intake altogether.

i'm having a tough time figuring out how to layout the port timing when boring my pport. my friend works for a machine shop as the foreman and he said if i lay it out he'll do my ports all the way through the stock manifold and the housings. then i just need sleeves and a few hours in the kitchen between the freezer and the oven.

so if anyone has a good explanation of how to lay this project out i'd really appreciate it. looking for max power under 8700ish rpm. i don't want to drop a lot of cash into balancing and machine work so i'd rather it work in the stock rpm range reliably. i'm sure i won't hit the 275 mark but 200 to the wheels would be fun especially without the weight of a turbo and intercooler and huge radiator up front.

S5 n/a rotors. 4 port or 6 port half bridge, street primary ports, with 3 throttle bodies one shared primary, and the other two seperate 2ndary's. do it.

you can make 200rwhp without porting it.

You can get over 200rwhp if you streetport it.

sucky thing about n/a and aftermarket ECU's is no one does NA maps. People that drop that kind of cash go turbo and if you want to drift turbo would be a better option imho just due to the torque/powerband differances the turbo provides.

true, you would have to find someone locally to tune it. i disagree with Mikey D though, im not a fan of turbo applications. m building a 4 port bridgey na motor myself. i was seriously thinking about triple itb's but any idea how they perform (better or worse) than just twin itb's? couldn't find any info, searched for weeks. i was thinking triple gsxr 750+ efi itb's. just saying. keep it raw power, not enough na guys around anymore.

twm 50mm throttle bodies, Haltech e6x
all in an 85rx7 with a s3 6 port motor approaching 200rwhp

I had TII carb/turbo in it at one point, it was cheaper than my na setup and way faster.
It did take some of the fun out of driving the car though.

honestly, im not a fan of forced induction. boost increases the possibilities of shit breaking and honestly, theres a reason why mazda never used a turbo motor back in the day when racing with imsa and even group B rally racing. forced induction was allowed in group B but mazda opted against it even though their competition was using boost, and in imsa mazda never used boost either, instead they started building 4 rotor engines and even in le mans, mazda one by pure reliability of using naturally aspiration.

i will admit, i have thought about adding a turbocharger, but then i shy back away from it again because i want t be able to beat on it all day and still drive it home.

one day if may add a turbo to the bridge port, but only when i can't be competitive aymore and i have the money to keep fixing it lol.

i like how this guy thinks ilove my half bridge 6 port fc with the right fuel and tuning setup you will be very surprised at what it can do.



plus there is no other feeling in the world (other than sex) when you roll into a car meet brapping hard OMG.........
