Gasket to Exhaust Port Mismatch
 

So I pulled the Racing Beat 4portHeader off the pig last night to port match the header and the 4 port exhaust port. There is about an 1/8" inch step going into the header that I can clean up, but I noticed a huge mismatch between the exhaust gasket port opening and the ports in the keg and in the header. My port differences are almost an inch and the exhaust gases go down into the pocket and I have to believe that this impacts flow severely.

Anybody know of a gasket that is a lot closer to the port sizes?

I wouldn't worry about it. At the pressures/velocities that the exhaust is at when going through that part of the system, the flow is more like water than air. Goes right past it.

If you're really worried, just don't use a gasket. Ever since about 2004, I've only ever used high temp silicone or Right Stuff and never had an issue with leakage.

how thick is the gasket when its compressed? i haven't worried about it. besides the only gasket thats worth a damn is the OEM one

maybe you could like cut a piece of copper out or something, make your own?

The gasket is the OEM one and when compressed it is approx. a 1/16th of an inch, but all the way around. There is a ton of carbon in the created gap and I can see airflow swirls in the carbon build up. I think I will buy some new gasket material to make a new gasket, though I really like the stock metal sandwich material.
