Defined Autoworks Engine in my GTUs

The guys at Defined Autoworks built this. I haven't driven it yet but I will soon. They also built the exhaust back to the catback.

Should put links for large pictures, unless its my computer. Looks awesome from the little I can see, though. Any power estimates? That header looks great.

Jeff20B 04-18-13 01:16 AM

That header looks like it will heat up your engine bay a lot. 180 degree u-bends that close to the engine will get really hot. Get some good heat shields.

Red95FD 04-18-13 08:05 PM

Heat shield is being made if not already. It is suppose to be around 230-240hp. Need to break in first. Not sure how to make the pics bigger. I'll take some when I get it back.

very interested in getting a closer look at this thing.

I guess that explains why they did what they did to the headers...

What is the porting?

Saw your car when I was out there, looks great :) I swear Ive been searching for a clean GTUs for years. Ive owned 3, but everytime I jump on one it ends up being a POS.

Built with RX-8 rotors?

Red95FD 04-24-13 07:00 AM

Thanks Rx, The car is a little rough for the low mileage but I will clean it up. I haven't driven the car at all. Logan says it rides nicely so I am excited to get it this week. I plan on cleaning up the interior and body so that it matches the new performance.
I have to say, I have been really impressed with Defined Autoworks. Logan is a good person and is very talented and specific. He has a lot of pride in his work.

I'll get some bigger pics now that I have the car. Until then Ray, I will say it is sweet.

Wow

diabolical1 06-13-13 03:21 PM

finally ... :)

Red95FD 06-13-13 09:26 PM

haha Yea I know. I kinda went crazy with this car in a short amount of time. So far I fixed the antenna, new ftp lenses, Replaced the triangles, Got new custom floor mats, got 8 dings removed, installed a turbo front spoiler, a coolant panel, rubbed the paint a lot, cleaned the interior a lot and installed a Nakamichi HU with JL XD amp and C5 speakers.
I think the original brake pads are still on the car. That's next.
Oh and I'm picking up the driver seat tomorrow with a correct cloth seat cover on the top half. The po was 80 something and rubbed the cloth off the bolster.
I'm obsessed. I'm hoping to get it dyno tune next week now that I have the engine broken in.

So Logan has two GTUss at his shop. Mine finally made it there about three weeks ago. Now it's time for Logan's magic!!

Good luck with your baby...

Would love to see some galleries of the car.

Are you going to do a vented hood ram air, or cold air intake or anything? Some of those vented hoods are primo

con-3-fc3s 06-25-13 11:42 PM

I'll be very surprised if it hits 230hp. Also you should consider wrapping those headers it's gonna get hotter then hell in there!..lol

ioTus 06-25-13 11:51 PM

if anything i'd ceramic coat the headers - but that heat shield you've got in there is beefy! I like it!

Ultimate would be to do both - ceramic coat header and have the heat shield. Shit ceramic coat that too!

Thought about it but I like the stock hood. would like the cool air though

You might use some of that gold heat reflector tape the evo guys are so fond of:

Gold is often referred to as the best heat reflector. I'm not sure how expensive it is though.

I may have Calico coatings do the coolblack coating. I had a downpipe done and was amazed.

Nice where are they out of? Performance Coatings in Auburn WA do ceramic coating on headers for ~$70 to ~$100

I had them do my intake mani after I saw the ceramachrome they did on my buddy's header. Top quality work.
