Trackability question...

I'm thinking of picking up an '88 RX7 Turbo II. Fairly low miles, 73k, totally stock car.

It's primary use will be as my road course/auto-x car. Think it can take the abuse? Anything I need to do to it so it won't blow up at the track?

Anyone know the car? It's black and I think it's in Aurora, private owner...

Don't know the owner... however rx7's were made to be track driven, you'll be hard pressed to find any car at it's age as a better track car.
Now for reliability, if the car was babied you may be alright for a few thousand miles... but pushing hard on a 75k+ mile turbo rx7 is kinda harsh. You'll probably want to rebuild the motor because you have no idea how it was treated also check the turbo. However you could get another 50k miles out of it, but it's hit or miss.
The one thing I can suggest for you is do all the reliability mods, and eliminate the dtss (predictiblilty in corners with a shot dtss is sucky at best). After that if the motor is still strong, you'll have one of the best track cars you can buy.

How can I tell if the motor is in good shape? Is it possible to do a compression and leakdown test like you can on a piston motor? If so, what are the specs I should be looking for?

He's asking a premium for the car, so if I buy it the last thing I want to do is rebuild the motor...
