Motec price drop

Has anyone noticed a big price drop for new Motec ECU's? On the Horsepowerinabox website they list the Motech M48 for the same price as a Haltech E11. I know that is without a harness but if I remember right that is still a lot cheaper than they used to be priced at. I harness should cost about $500 right? Hmmmmm......Motec...........

$500 for a MoTeC harness?
Try look again. :)
Last time I looked, it was more like $800?

Notice that the website only offers support for Australia (which is a good policy because foreign customers would not be happy if that website offered them the pretence of overseas support). Anyway, good pricing without support is not good pricing. Support is the most important thing with an EMS, especially with very advanced products like those offered by Motec. I think you would be better off buying locally, even if it does cost a little more. This is the only Canadian Motec dealer that I know of:

Other products from that website that do not require much user support would be a better deal.

In the US, an M48 unterminated harness is about $380 USD (without connectors), and a terminated harness with connectors is about $1,250 USD. Sensors are extra, of course.

Oh, and yes, the M880 unterminated harness is closer to $800 USD, just so you know that you are not getting senile. ;)

Regarding the pricing: I just had a friend get full 'shipped' prices for the M400, and M800 down in Sydney. The M800 is ~40% less if you buy it down under, even with the dollar the way it is. What really chaps my ass, is that MoTeC US doesn't even do their major warranty work in-house; they have to ship the units back to Australia anyway, if anything is seriously wrong.

There is a big "problem" with buying MoTeC's outside of your normal sales channels in-country.

My harness for my M8 wasn't in stock and had to be made. It was $525. I have a motec catalogue somewhere but can't find it at the moment. I believe the M800 harness is right around $800 like stated above and the M880 harness may be even more. It comes with that fancy cannon plug on it.
