Looking for local RX7 repair garage, chicago area
I have a 1986 RX7 in excellent condition, I live in the northshore area of chicago illinois and NEED to find a garage that can take care and replacing the original stock muffler system on the RX7 and possibly a tuneup.
Other than driving 100's of miles to get this done there is no one that I know of whom can order a replacement for the original stock muffler and put it on or knows how to work on a 86 RX7. I contacted the dealer were it was purchased back in 1986 and they seemed clueless other than be buying a new RX8. ANYONE here on this forum can give me direction would be greatly helpful. This is my second RX7 and love the car, one owner (me) 83 thousand miles, garaged kept and well still fast as fast can be. Except it now sounds NON stock!!! Awaiting someone with info. Thank you. |
Banzai is local to you. You might find them in the Vendor's section, otherwise just hit the yellow pages. Tell them I sent you, if you would be so kind. :)

I can help you out. I'll PM you the details.

Banzai isnt exactly what I would consider close. If you want a stock muffler system my suggestion would be to check the forsale/wanted section for one (people sell them all the time when they upgrade to aftermarket). Any local muffler shop to you can easily install it. Otherwise PM me and ill see what I can figure out for you. I have 12 years of rotary experience in the chicagoland area.

Sorry, I was thinking that they were in Chicago...

We are in Indiana, about 140 miles from Chicago. We do have lots of IL customers, but just about anyone can replace a stock muffler. It is only two bolts and three hangers, and there is nothing "rotary specific" about it. I would say any local muffler shop should be up to the task.

If you ever meet some dudes named Manolo (Manolo Racing) and Papo Mazda turn around and run. A bunch of crooks passing themselves off as mechanics. I got burned and so did a few other local guys...
