Looking for a good rotary shop

I'm looking for a shop/mechanic in the Indianapolis area who can perform a compression test and other inspection related tests on a vehicle that I would like to purchase... any good suggestions?

PS: I'm not sure if this is the right location for this post, feel free to suggest other locations.
PPS: As my search continues, I may need the same service in other cities, suggestions are also welcomed.

Aim tuning is in Indianapolis and are capable of performing a compression test.

Sorry, there are no decent shops in Indiana. You need to go north to Chicago.

Actually I do, I lived there for two years. The shops sucked compared to Chicago and Milwaukee.

Take it to AIM tuning: www.aimtuning.com

I've taken my TII and third gen there for going on 4 years and no complaints here. I am very pickey as to who works on my cars. I want the best and I found them. They are rotary gods!!

I moved to Carmel, IN in 2003. I moved to Milwaukee in mid-May 2005. So it was fairly recent. I had an all Mugen S2000 but picked up a FD from bricke a few weeks ago.

I know for a fact that you have never been to my shop, so basically your statement is worthless

Nice attitude. I can see why everyone has heard of your shop....it must be your award winning personality (sarcastic)....

What shops are you referring to in Milwaukee?

SS124A 07-19-05 12:12 PM

for simple compression testing etc... take it to AIM tuning.

you are in the area anyway.
Ask for Clinton to perform your work. then go from there.

I have to jump on the band-wagon with Chris (Blue TII)

If I was unable to work on my own stuff, i would much rather have one of the 2 aforementioned shops (AIM or Bansai) than to take it to anyone else in the 4-5 state region...

I will assure you, just from actually seeing what has been done locally...

If you need an engine... AIM will create just as much power (if not more) than anyone in chicago etc... and it will remain more reliable.... same with Chris at Bansai... as i have heard him say before... it is all in the tuning.. and his car, as well as others I have seen from him are top-notch.

I am sure you have facts to back up this statement, so lets hear them. For someone that has been a member of the Rx7 community for such a small time you sure seem to think you know a lot. I am not surprised that a new RX7 owner from WI has not heard of Banzai or Aim, but to start bashing shops that you have never set foot in or driven by is rediculous. So until you have done the research, I suggest you keep your poor opinions to yourself.

Besides this guy is in VA looking to buy a car in INDY, pretty unlikely the owner is going to drive it to Chicago for a compression test when AIM is quite capable of performing one.

Be careful at the meets with your "award winning personality" you will have anyone that could possibly help you alienated with 5 minutes.

A decent shop in the Milwaukee area for imports is King Motorsports. They specialize in Honda and Acuras but I have seen Skylines and other makes in there before. Nothing rotary related though...

yeah, king knows hondas, but who in milwaukee knows rotary engines and rx7's? when i first got my fc last year, no one would touch my car(not counting dealerships), because it has no pistons.

The only person in the Milwaukee area that I have found with some knowledge about rotories is Randy at Hall Mazda/VW. He has an FC with quite a bit of work done to it. Otherwise it would probably be time well spent to make the drive to Chicago.

Thanks for the help guys, I talked to the owner and AIMtuning is in close proximity. A good compression test will make me feel a whole lot more comfortable about buying a vehicle of this caliber from such a long distance.

Don't you love how people say something about a topic but never back it up?
