MRR V Dates Set

It's hard to believe, but this year is the 5th Annual Midwest Rotary Rally. I just came from a planning meeting for the event and have some information so you can plan to attend.

Date: Again, we've coordinated the MRR to coincide with the American LeMans Series Weeekend at Road America. This is August 18-21, 2005. The MRR will be on Saturday and Sunday Aug 20 & 21.

Location: Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI. This is the premier motorsports venue in the Midwest. 2005 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Road America race track. They have been racing there since 1950, but September 1955 was the inaugural event for the track.

Activities: These are still a work in progress. I can tell you that we plan tech sessions, the Concours d'Elegance for Rotary engine vehicles, a picnic, and an evening dinner. More details to follow.

This year we also plan to reserve a block of rooms for MRR attendees. We are also looking at multiple hotels, including either Siebkens or the Osthoff in Elkhart Lake as options. (These will be limited and will be more expensive, but it's an option).

If anyone has ideas for MRR, or would like to assist us in putting it on, please drop me a line.

It would be nice to have everyone at the same Hotel.

We just held a planning meeting yesterday to address the issue of lodging. Lodging costs have gone up in the past few years, and we realize this could be a deal breaker for some folks.

In the next few weeks we will work with a number of hotels and motels within a reasonable distance of Elkhart Lake to obtain enough rooms to accommodate most people who plan to attend. Other issues concern availablility of conference rooms for off-track tech sessions, meals/restaurants and what sort of total package the hotel will put together.

Beginning in January, we should have most of this nailed down. Go to our website http://www.rxclubofwi.org/rally/ for continuing information on MRR V.

Great to hear from you again Paul. This time we'll try to keep you out of a photo with the sherriff's deputy! ;)

You know, this might be crazy but I'm going to try my best to come up there this coming year.
Any prize for farthest travelled?

I've got extra S4 parts, Mazda stickers, etc, that I can easily contribute to the cause...oh yeah, and use it as a business write-off :)
