Wiring a 2nd gen coils on 1st gen
I am in need of some technical help...
I have a TII swapped GSL-SE that was blow-thru with a Holley that I am switching back to FI and I have been installing a Microtech LT-8S ECU for the last week. I am at the point where I need to wire in the TII coils BUT don't know how. I am using the CAS from the TII and got rid of my dizzy with ignitors. I am still using the SE harness so I need to know which wires go where to make these coils work. If anyone could shed some light it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks Joe |
It is the same as wiring it up in a 2nd gen. But you will need to provide a switched 12V source to the coil power wire (black I think, check the 2nd gen FSM).

Yes, I have that much figured out...
What I was refering to was where can I get the switched source from on my SE as well as where is the tach signal now going to come from? Thanks |
Get the tach signal (for the dash tach) from the trailing coil. Yellow/blue wire.
There are many convenient switched 12V sources. I generally grab it from the actual key switch and use it to switch a master relay for the EFI system when I do 1st gen retrofits. |
Thanks... will try it out tomorrow..

You can use the Thick Black white wire used for the original coil packs.
BUt you say you have GSL-SE. Wouldnt you already have these coil packs? Or did your GSL-SE engines come with dizzy? |
GSL-SE came with dizzy and regular barrel type coils...
L8R |
Then use your regular black white + coil wires.
