what would i need to get a 13b-re engine running?

im thinking of doing a 13b RE swap into my car, to run it, im going to need a stand alone system and i really like the prices of the microtech. What am i going to need to get it running?

1: What year is your car?

2: are we talking from an ECU standpoint, or the whole swap in a nutshell?

OC_ 06-05-03 02:18 AM

its a FC, just the ECU.

BlackFC 06-05-03 06:53 AM

The LT8 with stock FC coils would run the RE just fine. Obviously adding Bosch coils and an X model ECU would also work.

I've got a similar question....

I plan on doing the FD UIM, S5 LIM swap when I get my FMIC in. I understand that I have to figure out the throttle & CC cables, but what about the FD TPS? What do I need to do to get that to work with my LT8?

You've got to recalibrate it. :)

Care to elaborate on that, please?

Recalibrate the TPS using the MT software, or recalibrate the entire ECU because of the increased air flow on the FD TB and UIM?

After you wire up the FD TPS, you have to go into the software and recalibrate the ECU to work with the new sensor, the same way you did with the FC TPS.

The FD UIM will most likely result in a change in VE. Anything that changes VE will require retuning (to a point).

OK, thanks Brandon.

Basically just tell them what your going to run when you order it. Youll be using FC coils, and the sensors that come on the -RE engine.

Im a little confused when you ask "What do you need to run it?"

well, i really dont know much about the microtech setup. Some in-depth info would really help out. I want to know exactly what i have to buy to get this thing to run good, i would go with the laptop adapter too. i didnt know if i needed to get a special wiring harness, if it can use the stock sensors and whatnot.
are the TII coils any different the the NA coils?? my car is an NA, im going to swap the drivetrain and everything. (i dont think you could find a good TII in my area if your life depended on it, and so far, iv had the same luck with finding a drivetrain!) How are the bosch coils?
If anyone want to sell me a good or rebuildable TII trans and rearend let me know ME!

also, whats this about no closed loop?

600HP CLUB 06-06-03 12:16 AM

closed loop is when the ECU finds stoich. to save fuel while cruising and etc.

since this is a straight MAP setup and follows the tables in the ECU, it doesn't need a o2 sensor to find stoich.

tunning it will weld better gas milages since their tune to stoich. instead of looking for it.

get me? i don't explain things good. can someone can do better?

If you've got an engine that could run on the stock ECU, then all you need is the basic LT8. It is generally configured to use the stock sensors, and the splice the included wiring harness into the stock plugs. All FC coils are the same. The Bosch coils are really nice and beefy, but you probably won't need them unless you're going for BIG power.

without running in closed loop, what happens when you change elevations, air tempeture/density and so on? How does it compensate for those?
