What sensors do you keep when you go with an LTX8?

I need to know what I need to retain from the stock setup because I am buying an LTX8 ASAP. The car is an 89 TII.

You need your:

Stock TPS, stock H20 Temp, Stock air temp, and stock CAS.

If you would like the LTX8 can also be setup to use new Delco type sensors.

Sweet!

I have more questions too sorry i'm a noob to the EMS sceen as to the TII sceen but I want to start off on the right foot for my goals.

What PSI is the LTX8 setup for when I get it? I am probably going to be runnin gfrom 1.0BAR to 1.5 BAR I thnink that is from 15psi to ~21psi

What am I going to loose from the stock warning cluster? or the stock guage cluster?

Crusader_9x 12-22-03 06:20 PM

from the stock guage cluster will loose ur psi and temp. or at least i did. fromt he idiot light cluster u should only loose the check engine light. the ltx8 should come with a base map that is mapped for however high it is capable of, which is 20 psi unles u get the 3 bar option. but u dont really wanna boost it untill u get it tuned professionally to ur car seeing as every car is different

Can the microtech use non-stock sensors? I was thinking about the haltech because the GM sensors are so much easier to find and buy. I am missing my TII's TPS and boost sensor so I need to get replacements for the microtech and that will cost 2 or 3 times as much as GM sensors. :(

Yes. You can use any TPS you want, but the stock type is easiest since it just bolts up to the throttle body.

Don't worry about the boost sensor as the Microtech has a MAP sensor built in (you run a vacuum line to the ECU).

Sweet this is like the fourth time I change my mind based on new info

wait... if you use microtech your stock psi/temp gauge will stop working?

Well I would think that you can just re-splice into that stuff no??

On an NA, the temp connection is on the main harness, so the temp gauge will continue to work.

On a TII, it is on the engine harness, so you will lose the temp gauge. You just need to run your own wire.

Since the stock boost gauge is driven by the pressure sensor and stock ECU, you will lose the boost gauge on the dash. If you REALLY want to, you can keep the pressure sensor installed and wire it directly to the gauge.

Also, you will need to run the two wires at the back of the alternator as they are part of the stock engine harness.
