TPS wiring

Hello, Just got a full range GM TPS and was wiring it up. The MT wiring diagram calls for a +5v, signal, and ground wires. So I started testing the TPS the middle lead (blue, guessing that is the signal) will have less resistance to the on that im guessing is the ground lead (black) and more resistance to the guessed +5v lead (white) when the TPS is rotated. There is no resistance between the white and black leads. Just wasnt sure how the MT worked with the sensor. If it sends voltage to that it will be a short. Can the sensor be wired up with 2 wires only?

nope, you need all three wires and you've got it right:
white +5
black gnd
blue signal

but wouldnt the 0 ohms of resistance between the +5v and gnd leads be a problem?

Yeah, you know what...that is a problem now that I think about it. The +5v lead to gnd lead resistance should be the max of the potentiometer. 0 ohms across those too is bad.....shorted internally.
