Timing question...yes i did a search

Okay, so the red and yellow marks on my pulley have been worn off or something because they are not there.....Any suggestions on how i might beable to zero my timing? As of now my car wont start because of it, and i'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to line this up....any input is appreciated!

If you look at your main pulley, there are two indentations. The first indentation is the leading mark. This is where the Microtech manual wants you to line up the pulley to the needle sticking out of the front cover. However, many of the Microtech people (myself included) will make a mark 5mm in front of this leading indentation on the pulley. This should effectively be 0* (TDC). Using the existing indentation on the pulley or making your own mark is fine.

I had the exact same problem on my car, both marks where white. So what i did is after turning the timing lock on i set the static to 5 and put it on the mark to the right.

what he ^^ did is exactly right. 5 degrees static and the right hand mark. however, i dont see how this will help you if you cant start the car...hard to set the timing with the car not running...

YOUR CAR SHOULD RUN NO MATTER WHERE THE CAS IS on its track. there isnt enough adjustment there to make it not run. Unless you have had the CAS out since removing the stock computer, I suggest you check other things besides the timing.

ps if you have had it out, check the FSM for how to set it or reply and i'll tell ya.

I had the CAS out, and so the spindle actually moved. But I did get it started and got the timing all set and the entire ECU setup. It runs great except I'm leaking oil from somewhere horribly bad and can't find where its coming from. Was out driving the car for about 10 mins and the buzzer went off :( So I had to pull over and have my bro bring me some oil to fill it back up and get home. Anyway, thanks for all the help and everything!
