Why can't i put my motor on the yellow notch with out it shuting off it runs great about 1/2 inch away to the right is this normal . It's also on 15deg on the micro guage . Imptim at +10 maxtim on +40 . By the way it's a streetport 1600cc on E85 .:scratch::scratch:

When you are setting the timing, are you locking it first on the Microtech?

And I assume you are using the leading plug wires as a trigger for the light?

Yes sir lock on and #1 leading car starts on yellow but runs like dudu at idle

Thats because its going lean.

Thats normal. You dont want it run perfectly on that timing. Most heavily ported engines wont run -5.

Just make sure its right and then switch the timing lock off and your done.
One other thing i dont get. Why people put timing in the timing trim. Piss it off. Do it properly and have it in the right places.

Well i zeroed out trim and set it about 10 mm off to the right running fine know also plugs where shot never changed them after rebuild running like a champ:):)

The way you have set the timing is fine for cruise and idle.

But zeaone this is not good enough for your boost tune. If you have 3-4 degrees of timing too much in a tune you will toast your engine. 10mm is around 10 degrees.

Get someone to hold the revs up to around 4000rpm.

Engage the timing lock. And set the CAS right on the Mark closer to your driver side. This is the L1 mark.(this is assuming you have a s4/5 or cosmo engine.


But if you have a FD engine with factory pulley. It only has a mark for T1. So you need to check timing off your trailing. which engine do you have?

Once you set your timing(all this while your mate is holding revs up so the car dosnt stall), you disengage your timing lock.

Go back to your T_rpm IDLE and put 15 degrees in that map

and then youll find your car running sweet, but at the same time have the right timing.

so rx72C, you recommend zeroing the timing on the leading? so there's no -5 degree compensation in the timing maps then.

You can zero the timing. Its purely up to you. It makes it easier not to get it wrong with it on zero. But only do it if you can mark the pulley 100%.

So what zeroed or 5 out where should i be

-5 is were it should be.

Their are 2 marks on your pulley. The one closer to the spark plug side is the one you want to line up.
