spark when turn CAS by hand, no spark when cranking engine WTF
OK,
Long story short, I get spark with CAS out of engine turning by hand but none when actually trying to start it. I get no errors, orange light flashes.:wallbash: |
If the orange light flashes this means the microtech is staying on while cranking.
Thats a first plus.(need to check that its not dropping below 8v on crank). Next. Your coil packs are not getting power on crank, this is the only reason as to why the car would not get spark on crank, but on reds it will. Also check your fuel pressure when cranking, make sure that is still their. Also you may find your engine is flooded. When you have figured out why you have no spark on crank, put some new plugs and start it. |

When you have figured out why you have no spark on crank, put some new plugs and start it. I took fuse out of fuel pump relay i set up to keep plugs fairly fresh. Fuel pressure is still there. I was trying to get my power drill onto the eccentric shaft but wont fit between radiator etc. Will try tomoro, im almost sure this will work. If it is the case how can I fix it from stealing power, I tried bridging starter to 12V and yea no spark so im guessing its stealing power. So what can be done to fix this? |
9.6v should be plenty to start.
Have you actually checked voltage at the coil packs which cranking? Or if their is power their at all? Its got nothing to do with your starter motor stealing power. At 9.6v their is plenty of power. |
ok nah have not checked this.
Am i checking (-) or (+) side of coils, will let you know tommoro its getting late and i dont have a helping hand now lol. |
+ side.
|
yea test light stays on while cranking.
|
Your using bosch coil packs or s4 coil packs?
If its factory coil packs the ignitors could be dead. Other wise it could be the ignitors in the microtech. They can do from poor grounding. |
yea im using bosch [MTX8]. Ignitors on MT cnt be farked because they spark in test mode and by hand. What else could it be?
I have a bit of $$ at the moment so am going to take it to a workshop this week probably. What else can i check beforehand to save my $$$? |
Have you checked the earths as these are very important or your spark will be crappy.
Also if your cas spins and you get spark by turning it by hand then when cranking you are 100% getting spark. If your very sure your not getting spark while cranking, the only thing i can think of is that you have moved the cas so their is possibly a bad connection on the plug for the cas or the cas it self and by moving it the bad connection disappears. If you were in sydney id come and diagnose it for you. but your not. When your cranking. When you put a test light on the negative side of the coil packs, does it flash while its cranking and make sure you let it crank for at least 5 seconds to see the flashing. |

Tried cranking with test light on (-) coil no flashing it dims a bit but thats all. |
Ignitors in the microtech. ARE NOT triggering the coil packs.
Thats why you have no spark.. Did you try and replace the CAS? Really its all pointing at the microtech being damaged. If it fires in test mode but dosnt fire when cranking, the CAS has to be having a problem getting a good signal to the microtech. |
