secondaries not engaging (pls read!)

550cc, 1600cc, 13b-re motor, microtech lt-8, 60 trim t4 w/.96 a/r

I hate to make another fucking thread about secondaries, but my shit just isnt working straight. I searched and tried the staging at various %. Right now its at 99%, and rpm at 3000. It just has a really violent hesitation, and feels like it wants to shut down. I data logged, and it goes to m/s at the 3k point, but it feels like it dont work. I jumped the injectors, and they open/close fine. I put a light bulb to ground, and touched the injector harness, and it lights up. Only thing I can think of now is my settings, or maybe fuel pressure, since I changed to a rising FPR. right now fuel pressure is at 50 psi at idle, not sure during wot tho. any help is greatly appreciated.

i am no expert but i think your fuel pressure is to high, is it 50psi@idle with vacume line conected or not if it is that means at 0 vacume it would be about 65psi plus what ever boost level you run when on boost. so if you were running 10psi boost your fuel pressure at max boost would be around 75psi they need to be set at around 40-45psi at idle with vacume line disconected, when the vacume line is reconected this will drop to about 35 psi

its 50 with vacuum line connected, and I'm boosting only 2 psi, since the secondaries arent coming online, but I'll try lowering it to maybe 40psi.

you need to have it around 40-45 psi , you need to make sure you have enough fuel volume from your pump it should be close to 1 gallon per 30 sec , then the most important is when your secondaries come on the injector ms should drop big time . with mine ms are around 5.5 ms until the secondaries come on then they drop to around 3 ms. start from that point and then fine tune

what does the mixtures do when they come on?? go very rich or very lean??

be careful there. your injectors will be getting power any time the microtech is on, they just won't have a path to ground until the ECU turns it on. just as a test i would strip back some wire and run a continuity test on the negative lead for the injector when the secondaries are supposed to come online. it's probably not the most elegant solution or test method but it will certainly tell you if your secondaries are recieving a ground signal from the ECU when they are supposed to. just keep an eye on the continuity tester while driving around. if it shows a pulsing path to ground then you know it's getting path to ground for the injector to fire.

thanks for the info. I havnt been able to hook uo my wideband, because I'm kinda straightening out my interior (it's a big mess), but I'll do it within the next week hopefully.

Do you have the handset/ laptop??--go to Screen 31--setup-- move across untill you get Config--(this will read "4" for a 13b) push the mode button and move the number down to it reads 0--this will run a self-check mode--eg--the fuel pump will be shut down and the mirotech will simulate the motor running.
You should hear/feel the injectors going.
I had the problem like this on a 13re cosmo engine I had--turn out that when the injector plug was push on, one of the little connectors in the injector plug pushed out--so one of the injector the wasn't running.

The stumble that the car has at 3000rpm IS the secondaries switching on!!!
If the staging is set at 3000rpm & the problem is at 3000rpm it will be the injectors coming on.
The 550cc/1600cc combination is a real prick to get right even for the most experienced Microtech tuners.
A good starting point is 99% stage,3000rpm,4psi map stage
When the primaries are working ONLY the screen will say ST & then when the secondaries switch on it will say M/S which from what you are saying is exactly what is happening.
It sounds to me like you need to take some injector time out when the secondaries are switching on.If for example you are switching them at 4psi,your curve will be going upwards to around 6.00 M/S at 4psi & then at the 6psi load point you will need to drop down to around 3.00M/S.You will then need to start the curve going upwards again after that.
Set your static fuel pressure (no vacuum to reg, pumps running) at 40 psi
