The reason behind my Microtech failure
There days ago I let a friend take a look at the internals in my microtech, and if there was a problem he would fix it. He dicovered that a componet on the board of the ecu had shorted out and when that happened a part of the board got fried. he said the componet is really easy fix. he also made a couple calls to some electronics stores if they had that board on stock( I know, no chance at all)
Since it is usally cheaper just to replace the board. Anyway he couldn't find the board and he gave it back to me... now im stuck with a fried microtech... Does anyone know of anywhere In the SE part of USA that does reputable board repair? any leads will be much appriciated. |
EDIT: Three days ago

just send the unit back to AU to get fixed, now you have opened it there is no warranty....
|
warranty expired like in 98' this is an older microtech
|
I am well versed in electronics...What "component" is he referring to? Can you post pictures?
No chance of finding a "board" at an electronics store. Unlike the movies would have you believe, everything in the world is not made from a set of standard boards. :) |
warranty ended in 98 I think, this is an older model DIGI II stand-alone
Got the car running after I cleaned up the board... running like hell though- I think the spark plugs are really fouled |
a part in the handset that controls the LED dispplay, I think what happenned was that I the handset-to_ECU connector wet, and that caused a short in the handset burning a piece of it up ill get some pics up, see if anyone can help me out on this
