Questions about FD3S microtech LTX-8s install. Systems that need to be run seperatly?

CAR: 1992 Enfini Rx7 Type R (RHD), Zero emissions, deleted PS/AC/OMP.
ECU: Microtech LTX-8s

Hello,

The FD is undergoing a very large project at moment. The last big hurdle is the microtech install.

The microtech wiring diagram is very simple and straight forward. My questions lay with all of the other STUFF.

1. What is done with the transmission harness: speedometer, reverse light ect
2. Stock electric fan control?
3 .Purge control/fuel tank pressure releif?
4. Factory engine alarms: coolant, alternator, check engine(does the microtech even use this)
5. What happens to the two yellow and the one blue plug what used to connect to the factory ECU? What about the white connector that is up the firewall, directly below the harness firewall grommet?
6. Is it better to cut the ignition module out of the stock wiring or to run the wires from the microtech unit up to the module?
7. All of the other stuff that I am probably forgetting?

I want the install to be extremely clean and nothing to be overlooked, everything else is pretty well perfect.

Thanks for the help.

I dont think i can help you on this one because the US cars are different to the AUS spec fd3s.

But with a microtech. I set it up to control the stock fans on the highest speed setting all the time, so when the microtech AUX_FAN is activated it goes full blast till it drops 6 degrees.
rewire the speedometer manually, reverse lights are not on the engine loom in aus spec fd3s.

In an AUS spec car the alternator harness dosnt have anything to do with engine harness and the check engine is useless, Means nothing with a microtech.
Yellow and blue plugs are now useless, the white plug has temperature on it(for your dash) and oil pressure and their is a BLACK/blue wire on that plug that needs to be grounded so your dash can work.

I pop the cluster out and wire straight to the back of the tacho to microtech to get it to work.
Dont cut the ignition module off, Only cut the wires the microtech will be controlling. Leave everything else.

Hope that helps alittle.

I was hoping a guru would pop in and answer this.:icon_tup:

Thank you VERY much. This definetly helps us get going on this.

I should have probably being more specific with the specifics of my FD. It is a JDM spec RHD FD that I imported myself from the land of the rising sun:).

I will report back and let you know how it went, that way there is a record of this on the microtech forum.

Thanks again,

Regards,

Well, the install went very well. Going to wire the electric fans, tach and all of the rest of it today.

Quick question: Is the GM AIT(open element) plug and play with the microtech? If not, how can it be made to work?

Also: My tuner told me to run the AIT AFTER the water/meth injection, while Microtech told me to install the AIT BEFORE the water/meth.

Any ideas?

Whats wrong with your Factory air temperature sensor?

the microtech will not read the GM sensor if its not programmed for it.

If your running meth injection, the factory location for the air temp sensor is ideal as youll really see how much difference your meth injection is making.

If its anything like Haltech, you can set the digits for any sensor. If you can do that, ask me, I can give you the numbers you need.

Cant do that with a microtech.

Sorry to thread jack but did you ever get the speedo to work with the microtech?

apexFD 10-07-09 12:19 AM

Well, so much for the AIT idea... Oh well, not a big deal.

Last few wiring questions:
1. We figured out how to get the microtech AUX_FAN wire to trigger the electric fans on, but how do we get it to trigger the stock FD fans on HIGH?
2. Do we take the tack output from the microtech blue/white wire? Or do we use one of the stock wires from one of the left over plugs?
3. What do we wire to make the stock speedo work properly?

Ughh, I just want this car done soooo bad. Thanks SOOO incredibly much guys.
