Primary injectors not working

13B-REW LT10S w/X4

When I test the system (#31, CYL 0) the secondaries click, but the primaries do not. Originally the front Primary-inj would click, but now both have stopped. Found that a month ago with a friends dongle, but now that mine finally arrived, the above situation is happening. Thought the plug was damaged on the back one to start with, but now i'm skeptical since I swapped it and nothing happens.

I am about to check the wiring...

Anything I might be overlooking on the computer side?

Can my Main unit be faulty?

Tested the yellow and yellow/black for continuity to the ECU, and I have power in the reds. Microtech dead?

Ive had this car for two years and STILL haven't been able to play with it. First it was the engine when I bought it. I knew it was blown, although I didn't know it needed new housings and rotors. Bought a spare engine and rebuilt the existing one. Someone blows it up on a dyno. Rebuild it again finding the trailing coils were bridged together on the input side... Someone doesn't replace the bearings on the new engine and it shakes itself apart. Got new rotors and rebuilt myself with a friend who builds them. Now this shit. I lost my job and this car is pissing me off. end rant/

Try checking the yellow wire with a test light and see if you get a pulse , if no pulse the injector driver is gone and also check you grounds.

Try the self test function again! Did you change the Conf setting or anything?
Go to the SETUP SCREEN (screen 31 from memory)
Go across to the right where you will see Config=4cyl/R if its a 4 cyl or Rotary. It will say 6cyl obviously if on a 6cyl motor etc here.

Press the Program (P) or Mode button to put you into Program Mode.

Now bring that Number of Cyls down to 0 so it now says
Config=0cyl

It will now start to display Test On flashing in the bottom of the screen.

The Microtech will fire all the ignition outputs and fire off all the injector outputs as if the car was running at about 1800rpm. It will cycle the AUX outputs on and off. It will NOT run the fuel pump whilst in this mode.

This is a great way to test all your outputs.

This test , in Effect gets the ECU to generate its own Crank Angle Sensor signal. If you have got all your outputs working normally in this test mode, but when cranking the car you are missing one or all outputs, its most likely you have got an issue with :-

1:- Crank angle sensor wiring incorrect (most common)
2:- Faulty Crank Angle Sensor
3:- Incorrect configuration in the ECU for the application (2nd Most common)
4:- Another issue like voltage drop on cranking or bent trigger wheel for cam angle sensor or something else mechanical.

When doing continuity tests. Do NOT HAVE THE INJECTORS PLUGGED IN as this will make it all seem continious.

NEXT

dont use the self test function. its dicky at best.

PLUG THE INJECTORS BACK IN. Get a test light and stab the yellow(and after you have done yellow do the yellow/black wire), and get someone to crank the car, test light should pulse. IF THEY DONT PULSE injector drivers are fried and it needs to be sent back to microtech AUS.

Pm me if you need help with that.

On the other hand. IF IT DOES PULSE. Then the computer isnt the problem and your injector is seized.

If you dont get alight what so ever on the testlight, then the power wire going to the injectors(which is also shared with the microtech) is bad.

On the injectors. the power wire should have 12v all the time. Not just on reds.

I disconnected the injector plugs before i tested it. I have to bust out the test light. The injectors clicked a month ago during the initial test, so i assumed they still worked. Also i tried the two spare 550cc stock ones and they did not fire either (on this test today only).

I am fairly certain the microtech is done. I have found so many wiring problems with this car. I also just replaced the X4 a few months ago. Whoever installed the ECU did a real shitty job.

If you need help with getting the ecu repaired. Let me know.

BAD installations will cause heaps of problems.
