possible blown ecu?

hey all i recently took my car down to the local exhaust shopt o get everything legal again like extending the downpipe and what not and put some mufflers on. well whn i droppped the car off it started and ran fine but when i went to pick it up they said that it wouldnt start or run and needed a tow. so i thought ohk they flooded it, wrong. after fooling around with it i relized i wasnt geting any spark while cranking but it i threw it into test mode it would spark. now i havent talked to the guy who did the work but one of my friends works there and said that they usually dont dissconect the batery before they start welding. if this is so, could they have fried my microtech? i also had them make a new intercooler pipe. the areas they worked in there are reallly no wires period much less anything like a rpm signal that theycould have pulled loose. anyone have any ideas of what i can check to see whats up? opinions? thanx in advance

damn, I'm in the same boat as you man. My car has no spark while cranking and if I put it in test mode there is plenty of spark.

I hope someone can enlighten us. I sure hope it's not a fried ecu. Mine is brand new and hasn't even started the car once.

im asking if they fried mine by welding on the car without disconecting the battery. you should check your wires going to the cas.

I have checked all of the wiring and its good. I used a DMM and a test light.

I guess I should have mentioned that mine too was at a shop having intercooler piping and some brackets made up. While it was at the shop, I was showing another friend my Defi gauges and when I turned the key to the ign on, we heard a loud pop from under the hood (sounded like a voltage arch). I figure that has something to do with it.

sorry I wasn't more clear:)

I'm going to recheck the wiring again and probably borrow a CAS from my friends FD that is torn apart.

check all your fuses. during working on my car i some how blew the main 100 amp fuse and took me a while to figure that one out.

nevermind on my previous question they jsut flooded the hell out of it and one of my wires going to the cas came undone.

I hope you are soldering your wires.

well the owner of the local mazda repair/speed shop convinced me at first that using seamless uninsulated butt connectors with heat shrink is better than soldering wires. well so far i have had to redo several of my butt connectors and am about ready to try soldering them to see if its any better.
