Odd problem with microtech
 

Every now and then, usually on a new day, when I turn the key on, the microtech comes on with the green light. Yet it does not fire the fuel pump relay or really run the engine at all I believe. After about 15 mins of basically nothing, it'll begin to work fine again, and I'll have no problems for the rest of the day with it. When I plug in the handcontroller alls I see is to like half dim rectangles all the way across. With the green background lighting up.
It usually seems to happen on the hotter days hear in florida.. maybe that has something to do with it? It works perfectly fine at all other times..

Sounds like there may be a crack in the board or a bad solder joint.

Well the microtech is about new.. I've never droppd it or anything. The posting box it came in was pretty secure.
This problem is not linkable to heat in anyway?

The heat would aggravate a poor connection on the board as it expands and contracts. You can use some cooling spray (available at electronics stores) to help narrow down the problem on the board. Wait until it becomes intermittent and then start spraying.

If it's brand new, send it back to the dealer.

What about a humidity problem?

I live in FL and it's been wicked wet/humid lately.

Tropical depression fay came over and I havent been able to start my car for 3 hours now. It's extremely wet outside, but the inside of my car has not one drop. This is the longest this problem has ever lasted.

Heat, humidity, etc. could all aggravate the problem.

Alright so after like after six hours of no car, I started messing with the fuel pump relay. The car started with me manually connecting a postivie to the relay. Knowing that the ground also comes from the microtech, I wired a ground from the relay, straight to the chassis and the microtech clicked the relay fine. So I then hooked the fuel pump relay back into the microtech, and just took a big amp cable and grounded my battery down. Instant fix.. Seems my ground was dirty or had a bad connection.
When I first did the grounding for the battery, everything was tight. I even scared the paint with a screwdriver and a wire wheel where the battery is grounded. I suppose it just got funky over time though.

Thanks for your help though. I was a little reluctant to just blame the microtech with it being brand new.

Its hard to fix a problem like this purely cause we have to assume your car has been wired properly to begin with, which most cars are not.
